Over the years the pair have been rivals with Ronaldo at Real Madrid and Messi at Barcelona.

But despite them always being in different colours, the pair have a strong mutual bond and this may go in Barcelona's favour should they need to convince Ronaldo to join.

Ronaldo has previously said of Messi: "We have shared the stage 15 years. I don't know if that's happened before - the same two guys on the same stage all the time.

"Of course, we have a good relationship. We haven't had dinner together yet, but I hope in the future.

"We had that battle in Spain. I pushed him and he pushed me as well. So it's good to be part of the history of football."

Messi later responded: "We might not be friends because we've never shared a dressing room together but I always see him at award shows and there's no problem.

"I don't know if there will be a dinner because I don't know if our paths will cross for obvious reasons, each one of us has our own life and our own commitments. But obviously, I would accept the invitation."

Ronaldo was asked about Messi a year later and had equally kind things to say about the Argentine.

"I have always had a cordial relationship with Messi," Ronaldo told Movistar, via ESPN. "As I have said before, for 12, 13, 14 years [I have been] sharing prizes with him.


"I never saw him as a rival. He always tried the best for his team, and I tried the best for mine. I always got on well with him. I am sure he will say the same if you ask him.

"But we know in football, people always look for a rivalry to create more excitement."

In football anything is possible sha but this one will be somehow difficult.

They have been battling between themselves for years now trying to outshine each other so playing for same club could cause more harm than good..... Nobody go like pass ball give the other to score. One of them (I nor mention name o) is very selfish in nature and he won't even bother to pass the ball even if the other guy is in a better position to score.

The only time I think they can be in same team will be in a charity match, probably after they retire.
