This is kinda long but quite interesting. Here is the full gist.

A friend of mine wanted to purchase a PANCAKE PAN and due to the urgency she couldn’t wait for Jumia’s 7-days delivery timeline and decided to seek out online vendors that can deliver in 24hrs max. She searched and got the contact of one from Facebook who said he has it in stock. He quoted 5500 as the price, my friend priced it down to 3500 and he accepted without hesitation. This single act made her suspicious and she decided to ask me to help her check whether the guy wasn’t a scammer as the internet addict she knew me to be.
As per nairaland standard, I didn’t even bother to stress myself, I just input his phone number into the NL search box and hit the enter button. Voila! Baba’s scam history came up where he scammed a nairalander of 10K+ (see here https://www.nairaland.com/6333098/e-fraud#97464031). I captured the page and sent to Baba and he blocked the babe straightaway.

At that moment I knew I f!!ked up as I should have at least try to obtain little info from him before letting him know he has been casted. I decided to rectify my error so I messaged him with another number posing as someone who wants to buy a Samsung 65inch smart TV from him. I contacted him with my request and he said he has about 20mins after reading my message (enough time to source 9 pictures of TVs from the internet). He quoted 310K for my choice and I beat it down to 230K he accepted without hesitation (80K difference o, what a “Wow”!).
I asked for specifications, He sent after about 10mins (enough time to source TV spec from internet), I asked for the model number of the TV and Baba told me “2020 Model” (The mumu no know wetin be TV model number”. He sha found me one model number from the internet.
After all said and done he sent me account number to make half payment immediately if I wanted it to be delivered before 4pm the next day. I told him I don’t have up to that amount in my account but that I have it in cash and would have it sent the next day using a PAGA agent. I sent him an imaginary name and address for delivery.

The next morning Baba messaged me that he hasn’t seen my payment, I told him it has been made and that he should keep checking his account (I wanted to stress him small and make him restless about cashing out of a potential maga). After a while of doing this I decided to trick him into doing a video call which I know he wouldn’t pick originally. I did a voice call, he picked and I ended it. Next I did a video call, Baba picked thinking it was still a voice call and he ended it after realizing it was a video call and not a voice call (Too late! I already got his face screengrabbed). Then I let him know my intention from the onset and he was trying to form that it wasn’t him in the video call, he even had the effrontery to ask me to tell him his location.
