Hello Everyone, i've been reading a lot of threads based on the negatives of Sports Betting in our society and it's effects on our youths. Well, contrary to abusive substance like Drugs, Cultism and Fraudulent practices there are lots of positives to Sports Betting namely;

1. It is a Legitimate Business

Sport Betting Companies own licenses from State to Federal Levels of Government and also pay taxes like other genuine business

2. It is a good source of income

Like any business, you can choose to be a partner (Agent) or a consumer/customer. Greed is one major reason most folks cry foul like they aren't aware football or any other sport can swing to any side like a pendulum.

3. It curbed crime

Let's be honest, sports betting has curbed the menace of Nigerian youths engaging in crime so easily contrary to years ago. In a country where the voices of the youths aren't heard nor respected, this business has helped engage youths positively.

4. Job opportunities

With the rising number of Sports Betting Companies and staff, agents and brand ambassadors etc, jobs are readily available as it is one of the fastest growing SME in the country. Bet9ja, Betking and Betbiga can boast of over 5000 active personnel per State or Zone as it's staff unlike Government parastatals or Banks.

5. It is educative

One way or another Sports Betting is for smart people just like Crypto Currency or Forex. You might witness success stories of a fortunate few who knew nothing about it but in reality, to be successful you have to have an in-depth knowing of sports itself and have the ability to predict correctly.

6. It is profitable

Yes is said it! Contrary to those crying foul, the business is profitable but not everyone who invests in Legitimate businesses cashes out. A couple of years ago most commercial Banks sold shares in other to meet up on CBN's consolidation policy etc. How many folks cashed out years later from it? Of course corruption in Nigeria has seen most Sports Betting companies shy away from endorsements and sponsorship of our National Soccer Leagues, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Basket Ball or even Cricket teams to say the least. A shirt sponsor for Soccer clubs pay as much as $5 Million for a 2-5 years deal in average European clubs. Think about it.

8. Sports TV Rights and Fairness

Major Bookies and Sports Betting Companies encourage TV rights and live streaming as if promotes fairness in sporting events. Soccer clubs earn a lot from TV right deals except in Nigeria of course. If our Sporting games are live on TV, it will attract Sponsors and promote fairness in officiating thereby generating high revenue too. Taking a cue from our local league, away teams rarely win in turn they perform poorly when on continental assignments and until recently, even the Nigerian Premier League matches were rarely listed on most Sports Betting platforms.

9. Controls Money Laundering

Like i mentioned earlier, Sports Betting is being regulated by the Federal Government and State Government by the Gaming Board at each tier of Government. Now, every deposit and payout has it's records in a computerized database of each service provider. Win or Lose big your records are kept safe if ever the need arises for scrutiny. They are maximum stakes and maximum wins per ticket etc.

10. It gives hope to the hopeless and poor

With a paltry sum of 100 Naira you can be a millionaire that is not to say you should spend your time gambling. An excess of everything is bad and that includes the food we eat, alcohol, sex etc. If you have cash to spare and do have a good knowledge of sporting events then you're good to go.
