Hey People

Someone wants to give me a gave console as a present, but i am not sure which to ask for. PS3 or XBox 360 Elite.

To the avid gamers out there, is one better than the other. I am leaning a bit towards the 360, because i hear the graphics are good and it has more games, but i will listen to you guys.

The only snag about PS3 is there are not too many games out there but its worth the wait.

There are not loads of games now because developers find it a bit more expensive to make these games as it is quite more advanced.
In no time, say by december, there will be loads of em cos new games won't come out on PS2 anymore. It will be on PS3.
By October, FIFA 08 and PES 7 will be out on PS3 and those are the games u wanna play on PS3 because of the syke graphics.

I hope you went and did proper research before you wasted your free gift on a PS3.

At the moment, the ps3 is the worst performing of all three new consoles, and almost all games are better on the 360. Hopefully burnout paradise will be better on ps3, but that remains to be seen.

Hmmm. considering I have a 360 already, I wouldnt turn a ps3 down as a gift, if only for ninja gaiden sigma.

However if I didnt have a console, and I wouldnt be able to afford one, I'd go for a 360 any day. At least if i decide i want a ps3 later, i can sell it at close to costprice and buy one. However trying to sell a secondhand ps3 is madness, everyone's keeping away from it at the moment.

At the moment, 360 is far ahead of both the wii and ps3 in sales and instal base. The ps3 has had almost a year under its belt and has not matched 360's performance same time last year. Making matters worse, 360s are selling at a faster rate than ps3, widening the gap even further. The wii is selling faster than 360, but hasnt caught up yet, and anyway is in a different market.

In short, if you want a console that is guaranteed to be relevant for the next 2 years, go for 360.

Ps3 could drop dead any day now. Ken kutaragi has been fired from sony for messing it up, and already kaz hirai has annoyed ps3 owners by dropping the price less than a year after launch. Also, he is downgrading the ps3 hardware so new ps3's are actually lower value.

Making matters worse, almost every ps3-specific game announced at launch has moved over to the 360. Only a few are still ps3-exclusive. However there ae many 360 games that are not on ps3.

Making matters even worse, the games out at the moment are superior on 360, despite ps3's supposed greater power. developers claim the ps3 is difficult to program. If you remember, the saturn was more powerful than the ps1 but games were always better on ps1 because the saturn was so hard to program.

Yet another point against the ps3 is EA sports an 2K games claiming that all sports games will be 60 frames per second on 360 and 30 fps on ps3. In short, 360 versions will be more powerful- and this is for future games. The ps3 has issues with texture memory, it seems.

So far, only one game looks like it will be better looking on ps3- burnout paradise. We are all waiting eagerly for this so we can finally see what the ps3 is supposedly able to deliver.

Even MGS4 may move to 360- Kazui mentioned that the price drop of ps3 was too little and he may consider 'taking some steps' to widen the audience.

Devil may cry 4 and GTA4 are already on 360, with special 360-only features.

Only someone who is completely ignoring the game market nowadays will claim the ps3 is a beter buy than the 360.



Points in favour of the ps3:

1) ps2's are still being bought. There is still the (remote) possibility that many ps2 owners may yet upgrade. Hopefully the price will come down by then

2) Blu-ray. The ps3 is the cheapest bluray player out there. But to benefit from bluray you need a bigscreen Hi-def tv and expensive bluray movies.

3) Hard drive. The 360 has a hard drive also, but MS has restrictions on hpow it can be used because not all 360s come with a hard drive. The ps3 has a hard drive compulsorily so its likely some games will benefit.None have as yet, though.

4) Blu-ray for games. The bluray means in theory, bigger games can be made for ps3 than 360. But thats just theory. So far, nothing has been made that doesnt fit nicely on a 360 DVD9.


So there you have it. 360 beats ps3 any day.perhaps in 1 years time ps3 may catch up, but for now 360 is where the joy is at.

bought doa4 when i got it, then gears of war 4 months later. Ive had it for a year with those games alone and its been more than worth it! I just bought the darkness as my third game a year after purchase.

PS3:

resistance came with the system, and the only game i bought was ninja gaiden sigma. I have no desire to buy anything else 4 the forseeable future


As gamers, we 'try' most games and only finish a few. Theres no need to buy piles and piles of games, but pira has spoilt us. The truth is, even with my mountains upon mountains of ps2 games, i could count the number i actually finished on one hand. I gladly dashed the ps2 and alll my 1,000,000 pirated game to my brother with NO REMORSE

finally, wii games are horribly expensive. And if nintendos trackrecord is anythong to go by, u wont be seeing pira anytime soon.

Yeah, i've played doa4 and Gears Of War. They really are worth it. How is Darkness is it cool?

started playing it last night. Its pretty cool! graphics are nice if a bit dark and murky. The story was weird- they didnt explain how the guy got the darkness, he just got it.

It has some novel ideas, and the mob/mafia angle is hilarious *and* action filled! dual wielding pistols doesn't get old!

shooting out lights to create shadows is an interesting angle.

Ever hear of Deus Ex? Excellent first game, Deux EX2 came out and it was utter crap.

My comments on your ignorance were about

1) Xbox division finally turned a profit for microsoft contrary to your earlier assumption
2) The Xbox 360 does not have a HDDVD drive for storing games
3) Developers have NOT indicated any prefernce for blu-ray disks.
4) Developers have indicated a preference for designing games for the xbox 360 because it's far easier to code games for it. Most multi-fomat games on PS3 and 360 look either the same or better on the 360 than the PS3. Pro Evo Soccer 2008, Turok, NBA etc are all games that look and play better on the 360 than the PS3.
5) Sony loses more money on sale of the PS3 hardware than Microsoft.
6) The Xbox 360 is far outselling the PS3 in all territories apart from japan.

The truth is when u look at current sales ps3 has been doing better. I've read so many reviews and they tend to say Ps3 is better when u talk of performance capabilities and whatever, the reason why xbox 360 has more games is that its easier to code games compared to the ps3 console but its only a matter of time before game developers find a better means of doing this on the ps3. Another thing worth mentioning is that xbox360 has a better graphics card than the ps3.

But all in all I think the ps3 would still outsell the xbox (its already doing so when u look at recent weekly sales) because of its general better specs and its only a matter of time before we start seeing the real power of the ps3, remember we had the same situation with the ps2 which still sells till this day, can't say the same about the xbox. I've got the ps3 and I love it not because I think its better or something but well I had the ps2 before that and decided to stick with sony. MSG4 is going to be something and its exclusively for ps3, will eventually come out on 360 but when enough enough has been sold on the ps3 platform.

I love my ps 3 as I can do so many things with it. I dowload divx films and play directly without any conversion. I also down hd files use a software to convert to mp4 files, like this the hd picture quality is maintained the only setback is u only get stereo sound. I'm sure we will soon get a software update to enable us play the mkv hd files without conversion. I watch youtube clips on it. I know you can do most of this with the 360 too. My only regret is getting pes 2008 instead of fifa 2008.

They are both good consoles with fantastic games, I don't really know why y'll are arguing about all this. Just enjoy which ever one you have.

oh, and MGS 4 IS coming on 360 via a 2 dvd set. hideo kojima confirmed it. most games are going multiplatform now to spread costs.
