...And to you readers;

Thanks for the criticism. I deserve that. The iPhone 5c indeed got iOS 10 as it's last update. The Pixel 2 DID get Android 11 (a.k.a. Red Velvet Cake). That means it was supported for FOUR YEARS! I'm sorry and I apologize for the misinformation. (Damn you, KaiOS! angry) And that my friend (a lady) actually used the iPhone 6, I just mistook her for a guy I also know who uses the iPhone 5c. I apologize again. Please feel free to correct me again. I'm always willing to learn. wink

However, I definitely do not agree that the S8+ is smoother (note, I said smoother, not FASTER)* than the iPhone. All those bugs y'all mentioned, I am sure you know that they are far more likely to be fixed on iOS than on Android. So those are not so big a deal. iOS is buggy with new updates, yes, but what device isn't? How many Androids can still be as stable as these iPhones are five years down the line? Granted; still updating a five-year old device brings diminishing returns, but is that a bad thing? Isn't sustainability an important thing when you are talking of a handheld device that costs about the same as a decent refrigerator??

Look at Africa. When @91Tech (YouTube) did a review of the iPhone 6s getting an absolutely mind-blowing seven years of updates; people all over the comment section were like; who uses an iPhone 6s in 2021? Yeah, right; like who still drives a 1999 Toyota Camry (Pencil Camry) with 500K miles on it? Seriously . You guys heard of the Pegasus Spyware, yes? Would you really want to be caught with your pants down using a five year old device that hasn't even been patched for Spectre and Meltdown? shocked shocked

Anyways, we certainly must give credit to whom it is due, nein?

The reason the iphone 6s is getting an update is because of its CPU. The A9 is one of the best CPUs apple created. It was ahead in it's time. However, the update is not worth it still. The hardware is old and unnecessary. Kiss your battery adios, and user experience will be much worse. I trust the temp will be on the high side too. Any little task, you'll get a sweaty palm. Like I said earlier, it's all marketing gimmicks by Apple.

The iphone 6 came with the A8, but stopped receiving updates after iOS 12. The A9 which powered the 6s was released the following year. Many android devices that are supported by the development community, receive custom updates to the latest Android OS and work as they should on the latest OS, but for hardware sake, I won't touch these devices because their hardware is outdated. However, I could make do with such device if I'm on a tight budget or I will be using it as a fringe second device. Right now, flagship smartphones are at their peak. You can't even tell the difference in performance.

Yes, the A9 was really impressive in it's day. Yes, Apple updated it for that reason. But certainly not just because of the SoC. Apple knew if they removed those advanced features only the newer iPhones could handle; the device would be able to handle it without any probs. And in referrence to the bolded, really all you have to do is replace the battery and - voila! Good as new! YES, THERE WILL BE HEATING ISSUES (HINT: THIS IS WHERE THE IPHONE THROTTLING FIASCO COMES IN) BUT MORE UPDATES DID GET THEM FIXED, YES? AND DOES THE AVERAGE IPHONE 6s USER PLAY HEAVY-DUTY GAMES? NOT REALLY,BOO.

[Like I said earlier, it's all marketing gimmicks by Apple

Certainly not! What's bad in supporting devices if they can handle it? The Galaxy S8 can sure as hell run Android 12 smooth as butter, my man. It may not be important to you, but it sure as hell is important for current iPhone 6s users. And of course, they should flaunt it! Didn't Samsung flaunt their three years of MAJOR updates as 'one more reason to buy a Samsung phone?'

.

Valid point, but how many Android phones nowadays have unlockable bootloaders? Answer: NOT ENOUGH.

This ain't 2014, boo. With 'flagships' I'll give you Google Pixel; OnePlus; Xiaomi (with Mi Account just to flash the damn thing angry ) and Samsung (Exynos mostly).

How many people would you advise to root their phones? Sure, rooting is cool and all (and I love it; me being a power user, yeah? cool ) but I wouldn't use a rooted phone as a daily driver and maybe be looking for free stuff to download. It's like a woman wearing a light cotton dress without ANY underwear. (Should small breeze blow; well... grin grin). Rooting exposes you to all sorts of malware that will certainly render your device inoperable and irrepairable. I won't advise the average Sule to do it. Small mistake; fonu o ti lo niyen. And many phones never work 100% well on a custom rom. WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS issues, broken USB drivers, crippled advanced stock camera features; don't you know when you root a Sammy, then KNOX is pretty much gone? Ain't worth the hassle, 'mano.

However, I could make do with such device if I'm on a tight budget or I will be using it as a fringe second device.

I definitely agree with this. wink

Uh..? NOPE.

ME DON'T KNOW 'BOUT YOU BUT I CAN SURE AS HELL SPOT THE DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE BETWEEN A ONEPLUS 8 PRO AND A ONEPLUS 9 PRO. MAYBE IT'S JUST ME. cool

* Smoothness means; like, responsiveness to user input in swiping, scrolling, typing and display animations. The OnePlus Nord isn't as powerful as a OnePlus 8 (not the Pro); but it is just as smooth. How many 'Droids still feel fluid and smooth out of the box after five years?(!)
