IBADAN-Governor-elect Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State yesterday said that the out-going governor of the state , Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala is his brother and that his election is God’s divine one which nobody should lay claim to its successful conduct .

Senator Ajimobi who stated this shortly after he was issued the Certicate of Return along with other elected members of both National and the Oyo State House of Assembly by the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] , Professor Attahiru M. Jega through the Commission’s Secretary Alhaji Abdullahi A . Kaugama here , added that Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja , another contestant in the governorship race is not only a friend but a brother too He told the gathering that ever since the election was conducted and he was declared as the Governor- elect for the state , he (Ajimobi) had paid the duo informal visits and that he would continue to see them as parts of his successful administration of the state .

His words : “ Governor Akala and Senator Ladoja have been my good friends and affectionate brothers and I will continue to treat them as parts of my administration . It is a pity that in politics, no matter how friendly you are , most especially when two brothers or friends are vying for the same elective office , one will emerge as a winner and embrace his loved one “ .

He deposed that “ as far as my election is concerned, I want every democrat to agree with me that there is no loser or vanguish as expect every good citizen of this state in particular and the country in general to give me their unflinching support and co-operation to me so that I will be able to move the state to the next level of positive development . So help me God “.

Sen. Ajimobi who went further to express his appreciation to those who made the just concluded 2011 general elections possible , said “ Let me express my appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan for providing enabling environment for the credible and acceptable elections in this country by the advanced nations of the world”.

He did not stop at that as he thanked the INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega for his steadfastness and excellent performance in making sure that we as a nation in the third world set a standard in the enthronement of true democracy .

The Governor -elect who came in company of the echelons of his political party , Action Congress of Nigeria [ACN] , also recognised the positive contributions of the good people of the state at the poll and enjoined them not to abandon him “ as the achievement of success in office depends on your further support and cooperation as enjoyed earlier by me and our great party , ACN during and after the election “.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr. Ayo Adakeja commended the people of the state, particularly the politicians who were the major actors for making the elections successful and credible.
