Well, almost every lady who grew up watching fairy tales as a little girl wanted a big wedding and the running into the sunset, living happily ever after with her Prince Charming.

For some, the dream remained, and for others it changed depending on the kind of person they grew up to become.
For me, considering the fact that I don’t like publicity, I’d say I prefer a private wedding, then again, it wouldn’t be just all about me.
One must consider others (family members) involved as they (their opinions) matter too (If you value them).

One cannot just be totally selfish about what concerns two families, because it’s not just about a couple getting married, it’s the marriage of two families. (The both of you did not fall from the sky)
Your dad becomes my dad and my dad becomes yours, as my mum becomes your mum and your mum mine, all the way down to siblings. (Addition to family)

You know what I think? In our traditional setting, the wedding (ceremony) is truly for both families (especially the mothers ), while the marriage is for the couple.

After every I have been through, watched all my friends marry, given my all to people's weddings and I'm probably one of the last to marry, I now want a grand wedding. Yes, I deserve a party after everything I have been through. A classy wedding at an event center will make me happy.

It is all good, if only you are going to provide a substantial part of the money to fund this grand wedding. It is doable, you know.

From traditional to church blessing...

The traditional and church blessing should be same day. Traditional done in the morning and church blessing afterwards.

Would like to wed on a weekday,

With very few people in attendance.

Won't be wearing a wedding gown,

Will wear a very comfy dress and comfy shoes.

No make up or just a slight touch up which I can do myself.

There can be cake but very small and almost plain, no unnecessary decoration.

Very few guests because there would only be few already packed souvenirs which would be handed over to guests as they step out of church with my husband and I to take a few photographs.

No reception whatsoever, go home once you receive your food pack and souvenir.

After photographs, we go to our home. Happy and loving each other to continue our friendship and building life together.

It is the sort of wedding that fits this Buhari economy. Just that you need to include family members, even though your decision to have a quiet wedding is a good one.

I know a guy must comment. My father is not broke, we throw grand parties in our family so shift. Hisssss

I concurr with most of what I read here..
And the idea of a private weeding is so cool.

But weddings are in my opinion, old fashioned and over-rated.

For me, I no dey disposed for any fanfare.
If anything formal must be done and if I am on same page with her, well, just do the necessary low key introductions, carry schnapps( pardon my french) give the girl papa,and get the parents approval and blessings..

I am very unconventional in many things and a serious nonconformist.
