NeverBrokeAgainG: Onogbokor is an Isoko-speaking town in the Ndokwa East Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State, Nigeria. Until the creation of Delta State in 1991, it was formerly with the Ndoshimili LGA with headquarters located in Kwale, in the defunct Bendel state. It shares common boundaries with Iyede-Ame in the south, Igeh to the east, Umuolu and Itebiege to the north and Akara-etiti on the west. The town has three quarters: Ushie, Ogbe-ekpako and Ove. Inhabitants of the town dominantly speak the Isoko dialect with few migrant Ụkwụànì speakers. They intermarry Ụkwụànìs, Ijaws and other tribes. As a clan, it has four communities: Ewo-Okpe community, Okporo community, Ewo-eboy community and Obere community (named after a lake that has its tributary from the Niger River). There are migrants from neighbouring nearby communities and pockets of Ijaw fishermen and Hausa petty traders in the clan. Oral history has it that Onogbokor's founder Edo migrated from Okpe-Isoko and first settled near a lake called Onogbokor some 15 kilometers from the town's current location. After losing his first son to drowning, he relocated to the present location and named it after the lake. The lake is a major source of fish and other aquatic resources for the town's people. The town can be accessed from Ofagbe or Ibrede by an asphalt road. There is a ferry on the Ase Creek in Ewho-Okarafor by which vehicles can cross, during the dry season, and speedboat and local engine boats through Umuolu from the River Niger during high tide. It can also be accessed through an untarred earth road from Aboh, the Ndokwa-East Local Government Headquarters. The livelihood activities of people are fishing and farming, petty trading and lately timber logging. 1 Like |

NeverBrokeAgainG: Iyede-Ame, ("watery Iyede" derived its name from Iyede, an upland town in Isoko South Local Government Area in Delta State, Nigeria. Oral legend has it that the first inhabitants of Iyede-Ame migrated from Iyede mentioned above. A riverine community situated in Ndokwa East Local Government Area is one of the Isoko speaking towns found in the Old Aboh political division. The town Iyede-Ame is bordered by Onogboko, Igeh, Ivrogbo, Akara-etiti, Utue and LagosIyede-Ame, an adjunct community. The town has two major quarters, Ushie and Ogbodogbo with several other adjoining communes. The highest leadership authority in the town is the president who chairs the National Working Committee (NWC) that oversees the general development of the town. Power is well decentralized down to community general chairman as well as quarter chairmen who maintain law and order in the community. People of the town are migrants from Iyede, Ofagbe and several other places with few Ukwuani settlers who are mixed up through intermarriages. The mainstay economic activity of the town is agriculture ranging from cassava production, plantain, yam, ozi, palm oil, fish, timber etc. The town has a community high school with the named Iyede-Ame Secondary School- formerly Iyede-Ame Grammar School, opened in 1980. There is also an elementary school, Orewo Primary School, named after a fertility deity of the community. 1 Like |

Well. Ndokwa/Ukwuani people have been embracing their Isoko and Urhobo neighbors and in bid to please these neighbors, they have over time become Igbophobic. Pouring hate and venom on Ndiigbo at will even without provocation. Many Ndokwa/Ukwuani people now have maternal relationship with Urhobos and Isokos and have inherited their innate Igbophobia. I always knew with the way Urhobo and Isoko people are landlocked, with limited land space and an alarming reproductive rate, it was a matter of time before they looked towards expanding into scantly populated Ndokwa lands. When that day comes, I hope Ndokwa will be strong enough to fight that battle alone. Because obviously, Ndiigbo will not care. We will only observe from sidelines. The only Igbo group we know in Delta State as things stand are the Enu-ani people. They are the only group Ndiigbo will go to war for their behalf if they call for our help in such matters. Others should bear their father's name. 3 Likes |

Nwanyiogwashi: Isoko vs Ndokwa clashes in Ndokwa East LGA cannot end on NL. It has been happening offline and will only get worst with time, looking at how quick the Isokos reproduce and slow the Ndokwa do. The Isokos know they can't expand towards Ijawland. But they see Ndokwaland as a low hanging fruit. |
