I ran into an issue a few days ago.

I made a decision to jump into the 'ocean' by building a project, I picked a QR scanner because I thought to myself "hey, how hard can it be?".

I googled the idea "building a QR scanner with javascript" and it returned articles on the project, I then proceeded to picking one on Medium to see how it was built. I eventually copied the code from there but the article was divided into 2 parts, and the author hadn't released the second part so I had no idea what to do afterwards, I even tried googling my way through but I didn't even know what to search for.
I contacted the author via Twitter and he promised to post the second part soon, either way, I'm not satisfied with basically copying someone else's work.

I dont know of this is a common phenomenon but I need help with overcoming this challenge!

Yes a very common practice among programmers most times taking a project that you don't have an idea about is a good way to learn because u will have to do a lot of research about it and one way programmers do is by going to GitHub and look projects that looks similar to the project they are about to embark on and study it and that will even give them some solutions of hidden problems they will encounter and by that their learning process sky rockets so I will advice you don't event wait for the guy to update the part 2 just go to GitHub and search for similar projects to it clone it on your PC and study it gracias
