Hello fellow Nairalanders
There is this 21 year old friend of mine who works at a bank not far from my shop.He works as a cleaner there,so he decided to share a problem he is passing through with me and I don't have any tangible advise to give him so I decided to bring it down here.
This boy is an undergraduate,I mean a school start who has not gained admission to the university since he finished secondary School in 2017 because he has family issues and his parents can't afford to send him to school anymore.So from then he has been hustling to make ends meet until he found this bank job.
He started the job in in early April,and he said he its been four months now since he started the job and before he started,the former salary was N17,000 but when he started it, luckily for him,it increased to N26,000.
Though he told his mum N20,000 but a woman who helped him find the job and work as the head of cleaners later told his mum the actual salary.
Now out of that 26,000k,his mum wants him to keep giving her 5k every month despite not eating at home
He spends 8k on transport in a month and the remaining balance to feed and save for himself either to further to school or learn a skill.This boy does not have any skill at hand and the younger brother is learning a skill


He wants to stop giving his mother that 5k so that he can save well
So the question is,is it right for him to stop giving his mother that money or not

Hmmm actually, I see no bad for him giving his mother the 5k as far as he doesn’t have any responsibility of taking care of anyone else too.. much more he should utilize the on a way to find a little way of creating a petty business for the mom if that would relieve him from monthly spending

His mum should be considerate na, I believe the salary is too small to deduct 5k every month for his mom, he is even catering for himself which will make it more difficult for him to save or the salary sustaining him for a month.
I have no say if he should continue or stop giving his mum money, he should do what is best for him.
