I heard a presenter on TV that commented on the death of prospective Corp members. She exenorated nysc and refuse to blame the agency because nysc warns that pcms should not travel at night.
This can only be applicable to Pcms traveling within their geopolitical zone, say for instance if you leave Lagos by 9 am, you should get to ekiti by 1 to 2 pm.
How can you tell Pcms not to travel by night when he leaves Lagos motor park by 9 to 10 am in the morning and the journey will still extend to night even as far as 2am, there by jeopardizing the lives of Pcms.
I was posted to kaduna in 2019. Pcms that boarded the bus were going to camp at kaduna, Kano, jigawa and still diverting to North East of bauchi, gombe and adamawa. The journey will still fall in the night. I remembered I highlighted at kawo, kaduna at 1pm and the driver is still going up north of Kano, jigawa before diverting to North East.
If not for God that saved us that night we would have been victims of accident or insecurity. The driver was very fast but he was alert through out. I still had to be calling them if they reach their destination safely because it was very worrisome
The solution is not to restrict movement by night because if you travel in morning going from far south to far north and vice versa, definitely night fall will catch up on you, so it's better government arrange transportation for Pcms embarking on such journey. If government can't afford it then corpers should be posted to their state of origin or residence so as to alleviate the death of Pcms due to road accident
