The families of the corps members who recently passed away in a fatal accident along the Abaji/Kwali Expressway have been assured of continued state Government support.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, gave the assurance when he visited each of the four bereaved families in Ikono, Uyo and Ibeno Local Government Areas of the state on Friday.

Represented by the commissioner for youth and sports, Sir Monday Uko, the Governor described the losses as unfortunate, regrettable and collosal assuring the families of the continued support of Government in their trying moments and beyond.

The Governor said the unfortunate incident "has deprived the state and country of the contributions those patriotic brothers and sister of ours would have made towards the development and progress of our beloved state and country".

In addition to making immediate cash donations and other pronouncements the Governor also led each of the bereaved families in a special intercessory prayer.

The Governor's entourage was received in a sobering atmosphere by the parents of the fallen heroes who described the visit as unprecedented and thanked the Governor for identifying with them in their moment of grief as well as prayed for the continuing success of his administration.

Also in the Governor's entourage were the commissioner for special duties, Mr. Okpolump Etteh, the state coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Chinyere Ekwe as well as the Executive Chairman of Ikono Local Government Council, Mr. Nyakno Okoibo.
