Some years back, I had just returned from a late night service and I was hungry like crazy.

The bad part however was that my favourite nearby restaurants were closed

The only open ones were fast food restaurants where I would have to pay at least N800 to get a plate of food.


I didn't want to spend that much, so I decided to get food from one "mama put" canteen that I have never bought food from.

They were about to close by the time I got there.
 
The girl I met said they only had a few wraps of eba and egusi soup remaining.

 
I paid her N150 "pere" and headed over to my house to enjoy the cheap meal.

 

By the time I got to my house, Nepa had brought back the light (there was no light when I left)


So, I switched on my TV to continue my favourite "prison break" series.

 
I had already finished one wrap before I was lucky to see something black in the egusi soup.

 
I looked closely and found out that it was indeed the head of a cockroach.

 
Yeee!

I almost vomited.

I had to throw away the rest of the food and rushed to the bathroom to scrub my throat.


I also had to go to bed with a hungry stomach.

This happened because I decided to go cheap when I could get a better quality .

Because I didn't want to spend an extra N650.
 
This is exactly what happens to many people in their old age.

They refuse to invest quality time and money in acquiring the level of knowledge and training that would have given them a better quality of life.

They look back with the pain of regret on their faces.
 

But then, it is too late.
