I just came across this thread on the feared famine that may affect millions in the Northern parts of the country:https://www.trtworld.com/africa/un-says-4-5-million-on-the-verge-of-famine-in-northeast-nigeria-48976.
There is no gainsaying the fact that the prices of food items since this government came to power have gone through the roof.At a conservative estimate,I don't think there has been nothing less than 200% increase in prices of foodstuffs since 2015.
But one aspect people don't seem to be sounding the alarm about and which may put the lives of millions at risk is the nightmarish increase in the cost of drugs and medical consumables.
We know for a fact that Nigeria is one of the few countries where people can virtually get any sort of drug available in the country through a chemist or pharmacy store, without needing to present an authenticated prescription most times.
So Nigerians use the opportunity to access their health and drug needs from these stores, reducing the overall cost of health for them since they don't have to pay for professional medical services, unless they are really knocked down and need surgical or specialist care.
Just this past month or 2 alone, infusions, one of the most basic and widely used of drug items have shot up by 100%!This is just from May to July ending.
This August it has gone up to 120%!!
Other drugs have followed suit.
Anti malarials since 2015 have gone up by at least 200-300% across all brands!!!
The implication of this is that many people will resort back to herbs and other untoward concoctions to try and meet their health challenges.
The reason why I am asking is why are we so meek as a people generally?
Millions of people today are finding it extremely difficult to feed.Millions more are now finding it impossible to meet their basic drug needs, causing increased health challenges, shorter lifespans and premature deaths, yet people are just going about as if all is alright and not speaking out against this government.
Why?

Anti hypertensives,Anti diabetic drugs, that some people have to take on a daily basis for their entire lives have shot up astronomically too.
How would these people afford these drugs to keep themselves healthy and prolong their lives.
The prices of drugs alone should warrant an emergency being declared in the health sector, yet it's business as usual in Nigeria!

I feel your concerns.

Nigerians don't belive in preventive measures until the situation gets out of hand before we start making noise for a short time and later forget it there.

If truly the spell on the Fulani cow we are eating is responsible for this, God should please deliver us.

The trend of things doesn't show that things are likely to get better soon.

Even Aboki want to travel out of this country

Northerners have proven to be disastrous managers of the economy because ofgheir mad zeal to drain the south and dump it all in their backyard.

That is even the scariest part.
As horrible as things are now,it's scary to imagine it could get worse!
The pit seems to be bottomless with this man.

YarAdua didn't do that bad,at least comparative to him.Though IBB and Abacha were not that good either, but we should not generalise it as a Northern leadership deficit.
