Convince Igbos to be Part of Nigeria. Give South-East Presidency in 2023 - Ubani

You can't beat a child and force him or her not to cry. That's sheer wickedness.

The above statement shows exactly what is happening in Nigeria today. Agitations in the South East are as a result of direct marginalization, ostracization and the cheating people of the region have endured since the return of democracy in 1999.

Since the return of democracy, no Igbo man has ascended the position of President and 22 years have passed already.

Many people in government and beneficiaries of the 'one Nigeria' project continue to call on everyone to embrace unity but forget to understand the concept of unity. They understand the reason people are agitating in the South, but are blinded by political correctness.
That's why a certain Ogunlewe will come on national television and say the Igbos cannot produce president in 2023, even when he knows that pursuing such an agenda will hamper our national unity. Of course, he is aware that there are many imminent Igbo sons who are overqualified to lead Nigeria, far better than what we have now.

But, he is happy to chew the seed of political correctness just to satisfy his paymaster.

In the spirit of equity, unity and peaceful co-existence, it is right that a South Easterner ascends the most elevated office in Nigeria come 2023, to show indeed that everyone wants Nigeria to be one.

People of the South East have openly expressed their anger about being politically cheated in Nigeria. No one enjoys being cheated.
Without mincing words, an Igbo man emerging as President in 2023 will to a large extent win the hearts of people from the region who are already or are willing to dance to the tunes being played by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Olusegun Obasanjo was President for 8 years; Musa Yar'Adua succeeded him before Goodluck Jonathan took over. Now we have a Muhammadu Buhari who would have completed 8 years in 2023.

Does it sound right to you if people from the above regions still hold on to power come 2023? If you are looking for the best-qualified man, South easterners have it all. So cancel that lame excuse of merit.

It will be a great mistake should Nigerians deny Igbos who have spent 0 years in power since 1999, the opportunity to feel among and also pilot the affairs of the country in the right direction because they possess a class of excellent technocrats, businessmen and intellectuals with the capacity to make a real change.

You can't be shouting one Nigeria and still marginalize one of the leading tribes in the country.
People like Peter Obi, Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu, Charles Soludo, Osita Chidoka and a host of others without any 'baggage' can turn this country around from its current pathetic state.

When you look at the numerous Federal parastatal & agencies, the appointments are grossly skewed in favor of some regions. Same with the Presidency; it should be rotated among the 6 geopolitical regions in the spirit of fairness & equity.

But I believe Regional Government is the way forward. We need to strip the Presidency & Center of so much powers & transfer same to the 6 regions.

Dear sir. Nice perspective. The South East has had and still has opportunities to build a strong political party base they can successfully use to form alliance across the other 5 geopolitical zones.

In the political reality of present day Nigeria, except all the political parties present candidates of Nigerians from the SE, it will be difficult to have voters from other zones vote against candidates from their region. The politics of hate and bigotry the IPOB terrorists adopted was a huge disservice and trust me if push comes to shove, in some political regions, to make voters vote against any SE candidate imposed on them, some people will go to court while mischief makers will compile all the hate speeches of the IPOB terrorists leader and air it on radio or share it to people from the region.

For a place like the SW and North ,all the voters need to vote enmass against a SE candidate imposed on them is to hear the IPOB leader calling their leaders obscenely derogatory names and outrightly telling his followers to go burn down Lagos followed by the pictures of those several places burnt by arsonists suspected to be IPOB terrorists.
This method was used against Sen Obanikoro in Lagos and aired on Tv and radio showing the video alleging that he burnt the iconic Lagos City Hall.

As things stand, the IPOB terrorists have undone most of the tremendous groundwork of building political alliances across other regions by the likes of elder statesman Alex Ekwueme etc.

Most of your folks were hailing the IPOB terrorists leader when he was calling Nigerians animals, nobody will vote for a candidate riding on such to "give presidency to Igbos ".

In life, you sow hatred, you reap hatred but when you so love, you reap love. Most people representing my Igbo folks online hate other Nigerians and other Nigerians know, it will be naive to think that most people will vote for people who hate them sir.

You are definitely right. But the problem is that even though everyone knows that regional government is the best way out of this current political quagmire, the political elite will continue to drag foot because the current political arrangement benefits them.

My dear, in Nigeria of today, every tribe, I mean every tribe have a certain animosity for the other. It is the skewed nature of our existence, a price for our gathering. The idea of north voting against south is far fetched. It is not every Igbo that supports Ipob. There are still some who have the belief that something good might come out of the union, but i tell you that because of the marginalization of the Igbos, these people are gradually calling for a break up and sympathetic to the cause of Kanu. If the two main parties field Igbo candidates as president, will members of the parties in the north vote against the igbos representing these parties? That’s not possible. For Kanu, I will never call him a terrorist because that nomenclature was a political appendage. A man who wants a country of his own cannot be a terrorist. Terrorists are in the north killing people for free, kidnapping innocent people for millions and wiping out families they don’t want to go to school. The only thing I abhor is violence. I will never see Kanu as a terrorist. He’s a political prisoner. Those who burnt Lagos are not ipob members. Stop the lies. Many Igbos have businesses all over the country. Don’t use Ipob to judge them. Don’t term every Igbo an ipob member.

I share some of the writer's sentiments but to tell you the naked truth, any major party that field an Igbo presidential candidate for the 2023 is putting itself in a disadvantaged position and making it very easy for it's opponent to defeat it.
This is the reason why their beloved party, the PDP is conspicuously silent on 'igbo presidency'.

Just going over the bolded, sir, I think you underestimate the severity of the hatred and bigotry created by the IPOB terrorist group.

There are tonnes of audio , tweets , Facebook posts by the IPOB terrorists leader calling for the killing of the leaders of other regions and outrightly instructing his followers to go burn down Lagos which till now he has not retracted or apologized.

Sir, the patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction remain my heroes and I believe they should be allowed to lead the marketing of any candidate of SE extraction to other Nigerians. Nobody will buy your kind of narrative sir. I love my country so much that I wish it well every day and Night. May God bless Nigeria and Nigerians.

@OP Point of correction.. you don't "GIVE" presidency, instead the goepolitical zone and interested candidates build bridges to secure votes from other regions.

Nobody gave Buhari presidency in 2015.. he went into alliance with Tinubu and other bigwigs in APC for him to win and become a democratically elected president of Nigeria.

I still don't know why this is very hard for you Igbos to comprehend. Presidency na gift wey dem go give you??

Utter nonsense. out of 6 geopolitial zones, 5 should just sit down, and allow only the SE to produce a president. Dream on. I have NO problem voting for a qualified Igbo son or daughter to be president, but I will never support a situation where others are excluded. Let the best candidates put themselves forward and we the people will choose.

Please compare your Facebook post to the audio where the IPOB terrorists leader was instructing his followers to go burn down Lagos, he mentioned specific places that eventually got burnt. Sir, that's no coincidence. He didn't even deny it . And the Lagos State Government white paper that investigated the IPOB attack on Lagos called the arson "coordinated arson ". Sir, after the IPOB arson attack on Lagos, is it not the same format the IPOB terrorists group is using in the SE before FG stepped in ? Patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction who don't support the terrorist group don't go online to justify or defend the terrorist group with whataboutism sir.

I will never support any form of injustice against any Nigerian and every one who wants peace in Nigeria will never support anarchists like the IPOB terrorists leader.

Nobody will blackmail the rest of us who condemn the terrorist group as speaking against our Igbo brethren. It is a patriotic Nigerian of Igbo extraction who can convince other Nigerians to follow him or her who will succeed at leading Nigeria not the one candidate riding on vicious terrorist campaign and killing or threatening of other Nigerians by IPOB terrorist group. Kolewek sir. Nigeria is for Nigerians. God bless Nigeria.

It is the turn of Igboman to lead Nigeria for 8 years. Other tribes should go and sit down. Although SS is being owed 4 years, the SE is the owner of 2023. That way, peace will reign. If you chose otherwise, na una know. If Nigeria could deliberately produce Obasanjo and Olu Falae, Buhari and Atiku, Then Obi and Kalu are also good enough.

The constitutions of both PDP and APP was written by Late Chief Bola Ige. The Yoruba led the fight for the restoration of democracy by fighting the military.

The struggle was not executed by the Yoruba by brainwashing their youths with hatred for other Nigerians or by telling young Yoruba to go kill the leaders of other regions or instructing them to go burn the cities of other regions.

Fast forward to 2015, the APC was built on a platform with strong political party base in the SW the Yoruba used to form alliance. It is naive to think that the Yoruba will do all the hardwork and heavy lifting in order to dash it out. The SE calls the PDP home and even vote for PDP against APGA so it should fight to get PDP ticket but to think that APC will give its ticket to a SE candidate when it's aware that SE don't vote APC is like serving into the hands of the opposition PDP.

There's no short cut o, the SE will do the hardwork of uniting to build strong platforms on the message of love and hope not the one threatening to kill other Nigerians if they don't vote them sir.
At least, I know that the APC will not give its ticket to SE knowing fully well that the PDP calls the SE home. No serious political party does that. Even H E Kalu lost in his constituency election where his own blood brother carried the banner of APC in a recent Federal HOR election. APC won't be foolish enough to give its ticket to a candidate from the SE, it's obvious it's giving the ticket to SW where the party is strong and can mobilise votes effectively. SE should fight to get PDP ticket or start preparing for 2027 now by uniting to build strong political party the region will use to form alliance in 2027

When you niggas want to ask to be given the presidency in 2023, be bold enough to narrow your request down to the PDP that you have served for 20 years, as for APC, they will never give you a chance cos you can't reap where you didn't sow. Wether you choose to stay or leave for Biafra, igbos won't be nigeria president in another 18 years judging from the current political setting, except there's repeat of what produced Jonathan. Live with this fact and know peace.

That's exactly what IPOB wanted to achieve. SouthEast Governors and Leaders need to be sidelined and disgraced in 2023 for them to support IPOB fully. We are tired of staying in a country that's not working or progressing. 2023 is a deciding year for IPOB restoration.
