How do one calculate his tithes? Is it the gross amount, that is, the 10% of the entire project cost, or the 10% of the net, (after deduction of all labour, materials and other contingency expenses?)

Tithe is 10% of your income, not 10% of your project money. Don’t go and do thanksgiving with money meant for the project, that one is thievery. If your profit is 10% of the project money, that’s your income. Notice I wrote “profit” meaning net income (after taxes) on that project. So if you “settled boys “ before getting the contract, remove the money before you calculate your net income.
