Redmi 10 Specs Review (blog Post/youtube Video) by atheistandproud(m): 6:29pm On Aug 19, 2021
Xiaomi is a Chinese company that is devoted to releasing good phones with decent specs at very affordable prices. This has gotten them a lot of fans who have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Redmi 10.

The Redmi 10 belongs to the Redmi line of phones that is budget focused. The Redmi line is usually composed of a vanilla Redmi device, a Redmi C and a Redmi A device. This year however, a new addition in the form of the T series was added to the line up.

The vanilla Redmi (or plain Redmi with only a number attached) is the poster boy of the Redmi line. The Redmi T is better than it while the Redmi C and A are lower than it.

After a bit of a wait, the Redmi 10 has finally come to refresh the Redmi line. This means that users should be expecting the Redmi 10T, 10C and 10A soon.

Redmi 10 Specs

Body

As with most of Xiaomi’s budget options, the phone is made with polycarbonate (frame and back). The phone is a bit hefty at 181g and comes in three colour variants: carbon grey, pebble white and sea blue.

Display

The display on this device is a standard 6.5″ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1080p (FHD). This display supports a pixel density of 405ppi, 400 nit of brightness and a 90Hz maximum refresh rate. The refresh rate on this device supports adaptive sync. This means that the display can be toggled between 30Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz and 90Hz. This is very good with battery conservation as the refresh rate adapts to the task being performed on the phone.
The display is protected by a Gorilla glass 3 and has a center punch cut out for the selfie camera.

SoC, Software and Performance

The Redmi 10 is powered by the all new Mediatek Helio G88, the successor to last year’s Helio G80/G85. This new SoC retains the Mali G52 GPU from it’s successor with some minor improvements.

The phone is going to ship with Android 11 and Xiaomi’s own MIUI software.

The Helio G88 just like its predecessors is quite capable for this price range, scoring 200k+ on Antutu benchmarks.

Memory

This device has LPDDR4x RAM on board. There are going to be three memory configurations at launch: 4/64GB, 4/128GB and 6/128GB. It seems as though, Redmi phones are no longer going to be shipping with the 3GB RAM variant which in my opinion is a welcome development.

There is also an SD card slot for memory cards. This is very handy for memory expansion, especially when the internal memory starts to fill up.

Camera

The Redmi 10 has a quad camera setup as is the norm these days.
The main highlight is the 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor. Please take note, this sensor is different from the 50MP GN2 sensor that is present on the Mi 11 lineup. The JN1 is the successor to the ageing GM1 and GM2 sensors.

The other three cameras are an 8MP Ultrawide Omnivision sensor, a 2MP Galaxy core Macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. This device is also equipped with an 8MP camera at the front of the phone for selfies.

Battery

The Redmi line has always carried big batteries and this one is no exception. It has a giant 5,000mAh Li-Po battery. It supports 18W fast charge and can charge other phones with 9W charge speed. To take advantage of the 18W fast charge, it comes bundled with a 22.5W charger free of charge.

Audio

The Redmi 10 has dual loudspeakers at the bottom. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack for those audiophiles who like using wired headphones.

Connectivity

This device supports dual 4G LTE sims as well as wide range of international 4G bands. For security, there is a side mounted Finger print scanner as well and AI face unlock using the selfie camera. There is Bluetooth 5, WiFi 5, GPS, Accelerometer, Proximity sensors etc.

Price and availability

This device is not available yet and therefore has no prices for now but I can assure you that as soon as the official prices are out, this page will be duly updated.

Xiaomi has a unique way of enticing customers. I personally love the fact that they don't repeat chipsets, and always making sure that updates and security patches are always available. Unlike a certain company with helio g95 flagship.
