My First Experience With Racism by ProphetJeroboam: 4:19pm On Aug 28, 2021
I moved to a country in Eastern Europe to get a degree in medicine sometime in April this year and up till now I have always minded my business. I don’t even bother mingling with the locals because I can’t speak their language yet so I just stay indoors and play my ps5. I have never had any issue with the locals before until now. I live in a one bedroom apartment and I don’t even know who my co-tenants are as I go in and out without acknowledging any of them. I meet them and I go my way. The only issue I had one time was with a tenant who reported me to the landlady that I left the door leading to our apartments open and since then I have never made that mistake again. Occasionally when I jog in the evening I hear side laughters and talks as I jog past them but I always tell myself that they might not be talking about me or maybe they are not used to seeing black guys jog. Fast forward to today, I decided to do my laundry and when I went to my balcony to air my laundry(I live in the 3rd floor), guess what I saw. A used wrapped sanitary towel was lying on the floor in my balcony. I know it’s recent because it’s month end and month end is when most girls/women get their monthly visitor. I don’t feel sad or pity for myself, I feel rage because if I had caught the white trash who did this, I would have punched her so hard in her stomach, she won’t have to worry about anymore monthly visitors till she dies. It’s still there on my balcony in case anyone wants pictures undecided undecided

The person who did that clearly has mental problems because I don’t understand the meaning of this. So disgusting. I don’t rate the whites as anything, I don’t see them as anything special in fact I go out of my way to avoid them not go close to them.

Like seriously? Used sanitary towel and side talks when jogging are serious issues now? Abeg my brother, should I remind you that we are suffering hunger, marginalization, unemployment, insecurity, lack of electricity, roads, water and other public infrastructure as well as many other used unsanitary towels back at home under Buhari, who many of us never voted both first and second time to power?
Please define your idea of problems very well o. I'll rather walk through a dump of fresh poo every morning than endure the shyt of another minute under Buhari's government.

Try to be a little more easy going with your neighbors.

Greetings. Random act of kindness, and being totally clear minded when dealing with them.

When I went for NYSC in another state and tribe different from mine. I had the same experience.

Mine I even tried to be kind by giving to a poor Pastor and his family that lived just across the fence. People just don't like when a new person, somes in to their community and minds his business. Humans fear what they cannot understand.

But I would still open my booter and find dead lizards but I never took it personal.

Don't allow this act drive you to isolation and loneliness. Try to keep in touch with your family and have friends from school visit once a while.

Thank you for the good advice bro. I’ll try to forget about this unfortunate incident. I am not a very sociable person so I’ll do my best to improve on that. To hell with the trash that did this sha.

I agree with you.
There's a difference between minding your business and actually being in greeting terms at least with your neighbors

The advice I have for you is to lodge a complaint with your landlord as soon as possible. Also visit the local police, take pictures and show it to them, so that these warning signs don't escalate. The earlier you took action, the better.

Don't try to hit any of them cos you'd be shooting yourself in the foot, they would call you a violent, dangerous black man and try to victimise you.

Wish u all the best.

Aww.

I was once in your shoes.

One advise I’ll give you, no matter where you go, take a copy of your IDs and permits.

When I first arrived, I had old bitter beeches block me and demand I produce my ID or they call the cops. If I had my way, I’d deal with them but sadly you can’t.

Rest assured, you’ll meet very nice and tolerant white people and they’d be one of the best friendships you’ll have. You’ll definitely f*c*k alot of European girls too.

No send who no send you. Always obey the law.

And you’ll be fine.

Please take picture evidence and report to the Land lady ASAP, then watch how she’ll handle it.

Stay safe out there and keep minding your business.
