I am currently shortlisted to service for the next batch of NYSC (batch B). I want to know which institution or company pays NYSC workers the highest. Also, I will like to know the salaries for NYSC staff for the following companies
1. Etisalat
2. MTN
3. Airtel
4. Glo
5. Any other telecommunication company that's worth working in
In adding, I will like to know if PTDF offers NYSC members work for the purpose of serving and also their salary.
Note: I studied electrical engineering so I will appreciate any form of reference to any institution or company that is worth serving in. Mind you, its not all about the money. Its just that as humans and also the current Nigeria situation, we all need some form of incentive to keep us going and motivated. I will appreciate any form of advice or suggestion.

Misplacement of priorities endangers career. At this stage of your endeavour, money should not be at the heart of your career. Rather, building and developing requisite skills will in future pay you higher dividends.

OP, even if i tell you their salaries, have you considered what it takes to work in such firms? Have you considered that it's better to collect 10k and learn millions than earn millions and be kicked out after your service year?

Dear, Nysc is all about service to the community. Service at little or no reward. If you prioritize the payment, it would lead you to a lot of corruption and evil, you will start thinking of influencing your postings and sorts like that. The extra payment actually depends on institution located in the states where you will be posted. Just like i pointed out earlier, its more of selfless service to any community you are posted to serve.

Can you blame him? I think he has little blame, and good that you let him know what service is all about. Having said all that, there is no hiding the fact that the real reason for NYSC nowadays is what he stated above. Even the rich families influence the service of their wards to places where they pay bigger stipends, why should his own be different? Worst is that, the posting itself is no longer business as usual, there are series of influences. And while at the CAMP, the places of primary assignments with high stipends are set aside and use to rewards those with exceptional performance in the camp, and of course to make money by the NYSC camp officials to willing parents and rich kids in the camp who wants to buy their way to very juicy posting.

Some people are obviously forgetting careers can be built in top firms as well, although starting out a smaller firm will give you more responsibility and more workload in a hands on environment; you will have to balance that with unstructured work pattern, irregular pay, lunch runs, school runs etc

Atleast what he studied is relevant to the places he has in mind.

That, others are influencing posting does not make it to be right. If you run after money one may lose focus. And unfortunately one may not be retained after service what now happens.
Commit everything into the hand of God, He is able, though, it is not easy but He knows all.

Money is good but it is not everything, develop yourself if the opportunity comes and who knows you may find yourself in a better place later where your services will be appreciated.

Well, i'd say it all weighs largely on where u're coming from and where u're goin to. Some homes demand u get a quick fix up to enhance financial relief.how can u think otherwise wen u  roughly manage to survive. Dont bother if u dont understand such level. At d same time, dont forget ur career as top priority. Get a nice place where u can get paid well enough to help ur career and personal development pursuits.

@ POSTER, i dont buy the suggestions of that building carrier issue, this is 9ja where everything goes. my advice to you goes like this: FOR GLO, NO NEAR THERE AND TRIBALISM NA THERE WATCH WORD NA FAMILY BIZ THEY GO KICK UR ASSSS AND STRESS YOU UP. FOR MTN: IS NORMAL BUT THEY WILL LIKE TO RETAIN YOU, THAT IS IF YOU ARE GOOD AT WHAT U DID. i will advice you to either fire up to CBN or SHELL or better still create a NICHE as in have a small engineering firm of your own so that people can come and serve.

now a days you will end up paying 30k-20k for posting and it wont even work. the best of all is to allow them take you to where God has destined you to be. I pray i get a better place for my posting, ?

there different sides to it, in as much as its a service to the nation, you should try and get relevance experience, as thiswill count when you finish the voluntary programme and you are looking for a job, in your job search also focus on organisations that retain corpers, you can try GTB, i served there and worked was retained and left when i wanted a fresh challenge, the MTN and Airtel of this world will pay you but you go back to the job market, its your choice to make, All the best,

oboy u r very funny, look for a place they can retain u after NYSC, no company or coperate org will pay a corper more than 50k , so how long will this keep u after ur nysc, i am reaping the benefit of where i served, under two yrs i have a car, home of my own, now am getting married , wise up boi, NYSC and the money it generates r rubbish.

At your first post all your interest is on money! How are you sure you will be posted where all the companies you listed are. Please prepare for worst case so you do not get disappointed. Money will come after the service(if not scrapped) dont worry provided you have paid your price by been hardworking and finding favour before God.

I will suggest you get deployed to Bauchi State INEC; Where the Govt will pay your family N5m for your 'service'

We will have to assume u ave very loooong legs to carry u into any of this companies, Most of them pay 25-40k for corpers and you will get little or NO experience if you are an engineer, except you wish to work in the call center of which i doubt they employ corpers. CBN pays 30k-no matter how good u are u cant be retained there.

There are smaller companies that pay much more if you have that looong leg use it and go to companies contracting for the big ones, you have a higher probability of being retained there, better pay, and better experience ---if you are good--

@ POSTER, a useful NYSC year is one you spend serving yourself except where your country or community paid your education costs, and have provided opportunities for a better life afterwards in terms of good job, security etc.

In as much as i do not object to your quest for more-money, experience in those coys you mention is not as interesting as their TV adverts looks; besides, i do not feel you as having d social muscle to get into those coys. There are so many nameless coys u can add value to your life than those places. ''Think not like a staff, but a boss''

One year service to yourself worth more than 10 years service to someone else, think of life beyond the outdated NYSC scheme.
