The Taliban on Monday claimed that Panjshir province, the last stronghold of anti-Taliban resistance forces in Afghanistan, was "completely conquered", adding that the country was now finally out of the vortex of war. This come after the death of Ahmad Massoud's close aide Mohammad Fahim Dashty who was killed in action in the battle between Northern Alliance Resistance Force and Taliban


In a statement, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said, "Panjshir province, the last stronghold of the mercenary enemy, was completely conquered. With the help of God Almighty and with the broad support of our nation, our latest efforts for the complete security of the country and the province have paid off." According to him Ahmad Massoud's and others has escape to Tajikistan
