As a South African, I think it's actually cool that your president dresses like this - we actually like it in SA (it looks regal) and I've heard people actually commenting on this about leaders in your region. It's Arabic though (I think ), and not totally African - but most South Africans don't know that.

But dressing up to meet foreign dignitaries should also tell a story about who you are as a country. It's appealing in SA when our president goes to Nigeria for example and the president looks uber Nigerian. Maybe you're just too used to that type of dress u don't see it as special anymore. Personally, I don't think African presidents look good in suits. Most of them wear baggy old fashioned suits - they never look like Western presidents in suits. So we should stick to what we do best - then we won't be second best.
