Hello guys...

I've been learning web development since the end of 2019 but recently, I got into it fully (I'm currently on the 6th month of my IT) and I've enjoyed every bit of it.

The thing is, just 2days ago, the laptop I was using (HP ProBook 6470b) got a bit faulty.

I don't even know what was wrong with it as I used it prior to the day I noticed the issue.

Yesterday, when I tried turning it on, it won't turn on and it always shows a light on the charge indicator.

I felt, my dream of becoming a software engineer is finally over because, I can't afford the price which the computer engineer asked of (10k).

And so, an idea came to me: what If I should sell my Android phone? I'm using a Tecno Camon 12 (so I believe it can still fetch me a reasonable price).

Should I sell my phone to repair my laptop?

Ps: I'm on a 5year course, in my final year (studying estate management and valuation) but I initially applied for computer science which I was denied of.

I've always loved everything about computer science and programming since from my childhood; especially the user interface so, I plan on building my own android app someday.

Also, I'm currently learning JavaScript as I'm through with the html and css part of the course.

it's not advisable

You'll need the phone for other things, God for bid something else happen, what will you do?

You can continue programing on your phone (it's hard tho) or use the 1-2 month you'll use to save the money as a break.

If you don't want to take a break, you can use the time to learn the non-programming part of what you're doing.

Sell the phone if there’s need to. There are many sites which send SMSes for free and a few software you can use to make voice calls.

Thank you for the advice but, I'll still have to sell the phone anyway, due to the fact that we'll be resuming out final year in school next week.

And so, that implies that I'll need a laptop to write my final year project.

Fortunately, I came from a poor background.

So, asking my parents for money is not an option either as they still have my 5 siblings to take care of.
