At the third flat, stony ground is making digging here difficult.

More blocks offloaded and now being used for this foundation.......

Digging has stopped as work in this well has stalled. We will make a decision on how to continue on our attempt to get water from the ground........

Good day. I want to make an enquiry pls. I recently started a building project
A storey building of 2 flats up and two flats down.

My builder used 6 inches solid blocks for my foundation .

I recently discovered that he shouldn't have done that. But its too late now cos the foundation has been filled with filling sand already.
.
I want to know if there's any remedy we can take going forward to preserve the integrity and strength of the building.

Its difficult, if he used 6" blocks, you will have only 6"x6" columns, the only option now is to reduce the load on the house, use 6" hollow blocks for the walls and also explore the use of thinner slabs that can reduce the load on the foundation columns.

Foundation beams concrete cast in progress..........

As we cast, we have been inserting the waste pipes that will bring down the effluent from the upper floor through the walls and into the ground, that's a bit of mechanical piping work already going on in the foundation stage..........

More of the foundation, as we get ready for the DPC on the 2 completed flats.........

Removal of wood from the foundation beams, connection of waste pipes coming from some bathrooms that are inside some flats........

The next thing is to flood the whole foundation with water, this will aid soil compaction by sinking in loose soil into the foundation, making for an adequately compacted earth ready to receive mass concrete.
