In a joint press release by top officials of the EU and the Qatar government, Sheikh Mohammed has appealed to the current Taliban government to help maintain years of hard work by the US government and promote girl’s education.

From the content released, the move on female education in Afghanistan is disheartening and very disappointing. “If this continues, it will bring backwardness to the region. They can look towards Doha on how to run the Islamic system of education,” a Qatar top diplomat said.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Foreign Minister of Qatar, expressed shock by the Taliban leadership for not allowing young female school students to resume their classes weeks after gaining power.

The news conference occurred in the presence of EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell in Qatar’s capital city. He said, “The recent actions in Afghanistan will bring underdevelopment and take the country back if it persists.”

During the withdrawal of US forces last month, Doha played a significant role in evacuating thousands of foreigners from the new Taliban leadership. Although the evacuation process stopped after a hostile attack, the Qatari government calls for democratic rule in the province.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed that “It is important to keep engaging the Taliban’s on the benefit of women education to the society and how other Muslim countries handle their affairs. Each country has its law and order as women hold a vital role in the development of the society”.

“The state of Qatar is an example of a Muslim country that allows women education and operates an Islamic system. Interestingly, there are more females in the workforce, civil service, and higher education than men,” he added.

Various organizations have accused the Taliban of violating human rights since they took overpower. There are reports of the hanging of the bodies of four alleged kidnappers in the city of Herat a few days ago. The display of the deceased individual was after the new government affirmed that they would ensure strict Islamic rules in the territory.

Witness reports indicate that there is segregation of women and men activities in daily businesses as the learning environment has demarcation to prevent opposite sex from mingling.

For more than two weeks, secondary school females are denied entrance to school premises to continue their skills and learning program. However, different rallies led by women across strategies have started in recent days.

Sheikh Mohammed appealed to the Taliban to seek peace and economic growth while preserving the gains made in the last two decades to create a bilateral relationship in the international community.

Borrel said, “we cannot give up hope on allowing women’s education as negotiations have begun with respected bodies,” as he expects an agreement soon.

Hopefully, with the massive advantage of technology in learning, the new Afghanistan government might allow distance-learning or physical classes for the female gender.

I am very disappointed too. Economic sanctions is the unfortunate tool, but taliban will just turn the women into slave labour on their poppy fields.

The world should give these women free internet access so they can learn from the web.

Darkness shall cover the earth, and thick Islam the people.

The success of Taliban in Afghanistan is a warning signal to Nigeria. Because, it has been made possible in one place, Boko Haram and others will be encouraged.
The other day I read a thread in which Sheikh El - zakyzaky claiming that Nigerians are yearning for Islamic rule.
Women freedom under pure Islam is zero. The day women in Saudi Arabia, drove cars in the street of Saudi, it was a new day. They were arrested

Antichristian, what do you say?

They were but not anymore, though it's taking a while to educate ignorant men.

Some supposed educated Nigerian men still think the woman has a smaller brain. What's glaring is their own brainlessness.

True, with the new wave of Islamic revival, the die - hards will begin to mount pressure, success in one place will embolden others to challenge the constituted governments, possibly violently as we seeing in Afghanistan.

Those freedoms would be lost. Go to northern Nigeria and see what Hisbah is doing..

It will soon become irreversible.
If Nifemi will not divide, it would soon collapse under the pressure of the North and Yoruba Muslims.
There is danger ahead.

The danger ahead is that the youths being oppressed in the North will rise up against their oppressors and free themselves from oppression. After all, you are aware Northerners are the most oppressed in Nigeria, right?

Not everyone in the North is hisbah! And Yoruba Muslims don't hisbah neither.

The only fight the northern Muslims are fighting is religious, not freedom. Their mindset has been programmed to be poor and be bigots. So, I don't see the teeming ignorant youths fighting for what they don't understand.

Sparrow! You seriously believe people give a flying fuq about religious rewards more than their daily bread?

Forgive me, but believing hungry people are that pious is simply delusional. Even their imams aren't that deluded, despite what you choose to believe.

The poverty in the north is man made. It for the privileged few to rule the poor. Banditry, Boko Haram are a reaction to oppression in the wrong way. This the effect of illiteracy.

Well, as you said, things could turn out to be better.

See. Even you say "Boko Haram are a reaction to oppression", though admittedly "in the wrong way". But sincerely, there is no wrong way to fight oppression. If you oppress me I reserve the right to bite you, twice.

It will get much worse before it gets any better, Sparrow. The "priviledged to rule" will oppress more to quell the "reaction to oppression" then the "reaction to the oppression" will increase and so on till one side breaks. Fortunately, the oppressed have nothing to lose and a lot to gain, which can't be said about the oppressors.

I like your analysis. If you really know the beginning of Boko Haram and how it was taken over by politicians and elites, you would understand my point.
IIT started as a harmless group of youths that wanted a new social order. These were graduates who could not find jobs.
Later, they started bombing churches, which are I think is wrong. Their weapons were kept in palaces and mosques, hailed when they attacked JTF.
Until they could not be tamed.
Today, many youths are in Boko Haram today not knowing why and what they are fighting.
They only understand Islam and Mohammad are mentioned.

Boko Haeam did not "start as a harmless group of youths that wanted a new social order"! It's name alone means books (including Western Education) are haram, so how could it have possibly been formed by book qualifed graduates?
