The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has presented the sum of N129, 756, 450, 790.00 in the 2022 Osun Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly.

The proposed budget, tagged ‘Budget of Sustenance’, was presented by the governor on Tuesday at the Osun State House of Assembly Complex, Abere.

Speaking during the presentation, Governor Oyetola stated that the proposed budget will make Osun a prosperous state.

He also disclosed that the state will in 2022 focus on the collection of Internally Generated Revenue which will ensure the development of a workable budget.

The governor explained that his administration will boost IGR by attracting investors and foreign direct investment adding that emphasis will be placed on capital and infrastructural development for growth.

Oyetola assured that as part of his administration’s commitment, no project will be left uncompleted therefore all road projects in the state will be delivered before the end of 2022.

This he said is part of the government’s efforts to increase the socioeconomic sector of its citizens.

In his welcome address, the Speaker of the Assembly, Timothy Owoeye assured that the Assembly will be thorough in the consideration of the budget.

Owoeye urged the executive arm of government to consider retaining a certain percentage of revenue generated to the state to boost the state’s revenue figures.

To achieve this, the Speaker advocated the strengthening of the Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS) to meet up with the demands of tax collection.

While commending the governor and his colleagues in the Southern Governors Forum, Owoeye called for restructuring of Nigeria as the only road to Nigeria’s prosperity adding that if it is not attainable, devolution will be adopted as it was done in the area of Amotekun Corps and the insistence of the Southern states to collect its own Value Added Tax (VAT).

The Speaker enjoined the Osun State Government to consider the people and make them the core purpose of governance and implement development policies with intent to look inward without depending on federal allocation.
