I was 16 going on 17 when I made my first attempt but it was so bad that I might as well have just mixed rice with ketchup and passed it off in place (it was awful). It wasn’t until a year later wey I don get am half-correct (which is weird because I over-parboiled the rice, one of the mistakes I always made when I was new to the jollof-cooking shiz).

I experimented with egusi around the same time and got it half-right as well so it’s safe to say that my bachelor cooking skills improved quite a lot within that year-long period.
