The North knows that morally speaking and the spirit of One Nigeria, power should shift to the South. However, from the body language of the northern oligarchy, it seems they don't want to cede power to the south. The only way to achieve southern presidency is total or near total southern Unity. Part of the North Central or Middle belt will likely support a Southern candidate. But that unity between the two major southern ethnic groups seems not to be there. If what we read in the social media is anything to go by, the Southwest intend to curry the North's favour and desire a joint propaganda against the Southeast based on current misunderstanding over Biafra separatists and the recent events of 2015 and 2019, thinking it will make the North cede power to them. Will that work? The Southeast are saying should power shift to the South, it is their turn since the Yorubas have produced a president for 8 years and will have had a vice president for another 8 years by 2023 with the Igbos not having any of the above. Some Nigerians believe an Igbo presidency will heal a lot of wounds. The North will likely capitalize on this cat and rat relationship between the Yorubas and Igbos to continue their hold on power beyond 2023. The one million dollar question is - can the South bury their fights and unite to ensure a Southerner becomes the next president of Nigeria by 2023?

No they cannot. The bane of the south is greed and selfishness. Every ethnic group is looking after Thier own interest .So this is what the north will capitalize and continue to divide and rule over the foolish south .

Good to know that you are thinking towards this direction, because that is what will actually happen at the end the power will remain in the north but that will actually help Nigeria divide easily.
