I see it differently. When abokifx was shut down, parallel market rate was N570-580 to the dollar. Since then, the slide has halted and gradually being reversed as parallel market rate is about N565 to the dollar today. The exchange rate at the NAFEX window is what is weakening and rightly so. It is as VP Osinbajo suggested - the official and parallel rates should collapse and meet in the middle somewhere, determined by market forces and the supply of forex to the economy will greatly improve. Patience guys, it is a matter of time

I'm surprised it is not 1,000 Naira to 1 Dollar. Country produces nothing, imports almost everything and keeps borrowing money just to survive and service existing debts.....CRAZY! A country that cannot build a functioning refinery in over 6 years, anyone that still hopes this country can be redeemed is just plain delusional......I'm afraid the worst is yet to come, judging by the lack of credible candidates for 2023, Nigerians are in for more shockers!

But why would they do that on purpose?
Because African leaders are using poverty as a political tool to weaken the people. And so doing, only the few keep enjoying power & wealth without any fear of confrontation from the already weakened & starved people. And if you think to dare standup against them, they will use the money they have to mobilise those they made poor against you. I.e. Endsars. Currently, just #50k can mobilise stadium full of people who will be willing to take any order.

Pls share why you think so. I stated what I thought was happening and the best way forward. Having different rates gives room for arbitrage which is the key problem. Most people buy forex at the black market price not at the official exchange. Think about that for a sec

Lol hope you haven’t realized or seen sentiments in the post you just posted “osibnajo said and markets started reacting, Aboki Fx, etc I pray you will be able to survive the next phase of inflation coming Nigeria’s way

I really pray you do
It is a dilemma. Rigidly sticking to an official exchange rate is artificial at best. It works if you are generating enough to support the official rates but it is not so at the moment. Arbitrage is the bane of our forex woes at least for now. Raising productivity and exporting to generate more is the next step

The Naira is weak because we produce nothing and have a taste for foreign made goods, 90% of the people complaining on social media and declaring dooms day produce nothing yet they complain of devaluation or think the CBN is the problem. To save our currency we have to make things the world needs and earn foreign exchange, the complain is sickening, the average home in China is a mini factory, they are either making jewelry or small electronics, the people doing this are not half as educated as Nigerians.
coolBe deceiving urself. We are not China and every man is a product of the government in power. Imagine a govt. banning Twitter not minding small businesses conducted by Nigerians on it! Its not love for foreign commodities but capitalism. Our goods can’t compete favorably with foreign goods. It kills innovation. E.g how can the Nigerian govt. be patronizing Benz wen Innosen is there? The German govt cannever do such. My solution to the problem is LETS SCRAP CAPITALISM. We don’t even have the capital to be relevant and foreign countries have too much headstart and we cannever catchup. Let’s try communism

Middle class has been wiped out completely in Nigeria. Now it's either you're among the 1% wealthy that includes politicians and elite, or you're among the 19% poor or 80% dirt poor.

Don't delude yourself, having a car or living in a good house in Nigeria now does not mean you're rich. How can you be rich yet you struggle to fuel your car, struggle to fill your gas, struggle to pay rent, struggle to pay fees, and even struggle to afford things that should be basic on normal circumstances. You're poor my friend and that's the sad reality undecided undecided

Some Nigerians can't afford ordinary sardines, toothpaste or other toiletries anymore, it's that bad cheesy cheesy

200million stupid unproductive people! They only know how to produce CHILDREN.
If you keep importing everything you consume …..then your currency will have zero value.

The fact that you actually believe in the delusional position of the cbn that an informational platform is responsible for the naira's slide is worrisome. Since abokifx was taken down why has naira not gained?
