Good day and happy Sunday nairalanders. I'm just curios to know if it's compulsory to have records of your offerings and tithes.
On a norm I see all churches having this tithe cards and seeds envelop that requires you to input your data and the type of offering and also other information.
I have always believed that God is the one that gives the blessings that comes with offerings seeds and tithes and it's not important that the church should keep tabs of my giving.
Today I had an argument with a brother in church( subcell leader) when I told him I don't write my name in the envelops I give for tithes that I only state what the offering is for either tithe, seed or partnership as that it's God that will do the blessings and, I'm fulfilling my duty to God.
The thing is maybe I'm not fully blended to these patterns but our church seem to celebrate public display of giving and they kinda celebrate you big.
It's two Sundays now we are having RON and people who have made it obvious about their givimg have been celebrated and even given special seats depends on the amount you give.
But I've given mine too but anouncing it seems like what I wouldn't do cause I believe it's a duty to God and God sees it when you give.

The moment you realise that the church is just a business, that moment you begin your journey to reality.

You're doing well. Do not be like the Pharisees for they love to seat on the high tables and love praises from people.

God has nothing to do with your tithing, your offerings and your seed sowing. God sufficiently warned you against those who will to come to you in his name to fleece you, kill and even destroy , claiming themselves shepherds sent from him - Ezekiel 34 vs 1- 20 undecided

Jesus Christ also gave you the very same warning against men who will come to you in his name posing as shepherds but come to steal, kill and destroy you instead - John 10 vs 1 - 16 undecided

If you love to throw your money away so much, go right ahead and keep God's name out of the foolishness since it is not of Him. undecided

The church is indeed a business. The crux of the matter is: whose business? Jesus, Himself talked, in the parable of the talent, about investment and proceed. Also, about unprofitable servant.

So, the church is a business! Father's business! His investments are his Son (John 3: 16), and the enabling power of His Spirit (Acts. 1: 8 ). His expected proceed is the souls of men.

To do this, the church needs money. Don't be deceived by the likes of MaxInDHouse and Janosky, who though, they support the spread of their organisation, will hypocritically, run down others.

The practice of records, envelopes, and others are very correct. One, for record purposes; two, for accountability. This was practised in the times of Moses and the kings with the available methods. It may have been in the time of Apostles. Anyways, this people ran their ministries individually, without any particular central body. Each, apart from the common message, used different management methods in their locations.

Same today, this practice may not be in developed world, because, they are already informed and enlightened. Most contributions are done by the internet. Mind you, some of NGOs, orphanages, missionaries are sponsored from abroad.

Here, poverty - stricken continent, people, though taught and willing, may not give at all. Many are living on perpetual credits. That doesn't mean we don't owe God our substance for the work and the workers to get things done.

Means must be designed to get the money. That is the reality. If you are the pastor, you will look for money!
What about Paul? He was never married, his needs are not much. If a ministry has a hundred workers, and the must be paid, they must source for money somehow. Imagine, the church of the OP, if the workers are not paid, their children are stealing or become nuisance, they too don't pay tax, etc.

Worst still the workers are owed salaries. This same fellow will still come here to ridicule the leader.

My point: let us be careful of criticizing these leaders. How many times have we read about finances in the mosques, JWs, Grail Message. Don't they touch money?
