A SHORT REFLECTION ON MAWLID AN-NABIYY CELEBRATIONS

Allah says:

"That you may believe in Allah and His Apostle and may aid him and revere/venerate him (i.e the Prophet); and (that) you may declare His (Allah's) glory, morning and evening."[1]

It is established in the hadith[2] of Abu Saeed al-Khudri that even the sahabah gathered in a group with good intentions to "venerate and honor" the noble Prophet by thanking Allah for blessing them with Muhammad, salallahu alayhi wa ahlih.

What day exactly did this event of the Sahabah correspond with? Was it a one time or continuous event? No information is available to shed light on these questions, but what we gathered is that Prophet NEVER rebuked their gathering or intentions rather, he commended and appreciated their initiatives.

This clearly shows us the Prophetic approval of " any gathering with good intentions and righteous acts in his blessed name."

This is a good pointer to the establishment of Mawlidu-n-Nabiyy celebration where people gather with the intention to praise Allah and thank Him for blessing us with Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family.

HYPOCRISY!!!

Some tag Mawlidu-n-Nabiyy a Bid’ah act with the excuse that Prophet or the Sahabah did not practically "celebrate" it as it is being done today.

Simple response to this is that there are 1001 things that these Mawlidu-n-Nabiyy antagonists do repetitively that the noble Prophet never practices. A simple example is saying "RadiyAllahu anhu or Rahimahullah" after the mentioning of any sahabi or a dead righteous Muslim respectively. Despite the fact that Allah uses the sentence in several places in the Qur'an, Prophet and the sahabah never used it as Mawlid an-Nabiyyi antagonists used those sentences today. Why can't they tag that a Bid’ah act as well for the same reason they declared Mawlid an-Nabiyy celebration as Bid’ah?

Peace be upon the Noble Prophet and his Ahl al-Bayt.

Happy Mawlid An-Nabiyy

EXCELLENT NOTE ON MAWLID AN-NABIY

They said: Celebrating the birth of Messenger of Allah is Bid’ah (innovation)

We said to them: Is the birth of the noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) a favor or curse?

They said: It is a favor from Allah.

We said to them:

"And as for the favor of your Lord, do announce (it)." [Surah Ad-Dhuha, Verse 11]

At Least let's celebrate "Allah's Mercy To The Universe"
"Indeed, in this [Quran] is notification for a worshiping people. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the Universe." (Quran: 21:106-107)

Which of your Lords Favor Will You Deny

Happy Mawludi Nabiyi

If you are challenged as to why you rejoice and celebrate Mawlid An-Nabiyy, ask them if Muhammad is a mercy and grace to Mankind? If they say yes, then:

[Surah Yunus, Verse 58]:

Say: In the grace of Allah and in His mercy-- in that they should rejoice; it is better than that which they gather."
