Trauma: A Hidden Fear by Ladylawyer(f): 4:35pm On Oct 24, 2021
My aunty once told me a story about a girl that was raped while they were on their back to their various homes after a block rosary convention.
The moment the rapist pounced on the unlucky girl they rest of them ran farther to a safe distance and from there, they could hear the girl shouting "ozugo". Ever since then the word "ozugo" became traumatizing to the girl. Once she quarrels with her mate all they need say is " ozugo" and she will be silenced.
While i was in the university, i had a course mate that i wouldn't want to be friends with because of how he looked down on me but we had a mutual friend and so we get to talk once in a while because of this mutual friend. Anytime we have an encounter i always ask myself why this guy was so condescending towards me. Later i found out through my sister that he stopped greeting my sisters friend simply because the girl changed from faculty of law to a different faculty.
One thing was clear he hates to associate with the poor. His condecending attitude towards me continued until he met my parents, his attitude towards i and my sister changed completely. I wondered what changed until this mutual friend told me that his family were very very poor and so he hates to associate with the poor. Apparently he thought i was poor because of my descent and moderate looks, whereas i am from an average home. Now that is truama.
Trauma can be as a result of past ugly experience like in the case of the girl that was raped or a hidden psychological fear that might make us act in a certain way like my friend in school.
What do you think?
