I think atheist have a problem with believing in the interference of God in his set order or laws and believe in the absoluteness of certain laws until proven scientifically otherwise.

Science, by its nature, is antibelief, because if you use your senses to ask and knock and seek, which is what science is, you would find it difficult to believe.

As for believing in God, perhaps the religious should try to understand the book they read so they can learn to use their senses, because, in the end, that is what the book teaches despite the numerous verses telling you to ignorantly believe. If not, Jesus would have stopped at "love the Lord your God", and he would have believed and not be crucified. He was after all crucified for not believing what those around him believed because he used his own senses (though I bet you'd likely argue he didn't).
