In the Nigeria of today, it's not uncommon to see 'professional pickpockets'. Most likely than not, we might have been victim, 'almost' victim or seeing victims that experienced it first hand.

Whatever the case may be, Share your experience with us.

Mine was in 2019 September, around under bridge in Agege. My elder brother and I were going to board a bus going to Abule Egba when it started raining around 8pm. The bridge was being constructed by then, and the rain made things worse.

There was a filling station nearby where people were converged on. We took cover there as well. All of a sudden, I noticed a hand touching my back pocket. I remained calm. Same thing was repeated. Immediately the guy was about to remove his hand, I held his hand. The next thing he said was "See as you grab me. You know me before" and I replied "Bros why? Dey try look face na. No be person like me you suppose dey steal from na" immediately putting up an aggressive, stern-looking face. By then, people had started gathering. Some RRS police officers came and asked what happened and I explained to them. The guy, in a bid to buttress his innocence claim, brought out 3 phones (2 Android and 1 iPhone). In his words, "How I go get these kind phones come still dey still your phone". My brother told the police to ask the guy to unlock the phone. Before they could say Jack, the guy bolted out. He crossed the road like James Bond. Since he wasn't successful, it was raining and no clear evidence, the police left him.

After about 10 minutes, one man came crying to the police. His phone had been stolen. Painfully enough, he said he bought the phone on loan (from Easybuy) two weeks earlier. Another man whose phone was also stolen started threatening the unseen thieves with 'Ogun'.

Immediately, the whole scenario added up. The guy I suspected earlier was among a gang of pickpockets that operate at night especially during the rainy season.

If I had 'loose guard', the guy would have run me street.

Now, tell us your experience with pickpockets.

I will say twice...that's the only two I could remember now.
One was at upper iweka onitsha and the second one was in Lagos.

The one at onitsha, I entered bus from upper iweka to nkpor...when I got to my bus stop and checked my pocket to bring out my wallet, omo I felt nothing. The instant sweat and urge to go to the toilet as a result of the loss was something I couldn't wish for my haters grin grin

Then the one at Lagos...I entered keke that was carrying only one passenger at the back, immediately I entered and sat beside the passenger, the driver and the passenger started quarreling, I didn't know it was their planned work to distract me, I was even trying to settle the quarrel, the next thing, the driver said he is not going again, that we should enter the next Keke, I jejely came down and he zoomed off with the passenger, I was like..is this one mad nii? Why he no let the other passenger drop too? But I noticed my pocket felt light..as I touched it to confirm..aah! My new phone was gone..phone I bought about a week. My heart started beating gbim gbim gbim...I stopped a bike and directed him to just drive along the road perhaps I will catch them, we rode for like 15minutes and I didn't see any sign of them. I just bought one chilled bottled water from the traffic hawkers to avoid heart attack grin grin

Since that day..if I enter Keke or bus and the driver or conductor and passenger begin quarrel..I go hold my pocket very well.. cheesy cheesy

Was in a bus going from berger to ketu, one guy sat beside me close to the window.Normally,i always put on a earpiece in a bus and vibe to my music. So i was feeling the music gan(burna boy),i just closed my eyes to medetate on the words.after sometime,i felt a hand going into my pocket,i just let the nigga slide it in wella,he got hold of my money,as he was pulling his hand out,i grabed his hand and opened my eyes.Omo this guy beg me tire inside bus,no one knew wat was going on,i knew if i shouted 'ole' they would have lynched him,i just warned him never to try such again cause he might no be lucky next time
