There is truth to the saying. If you love a thing or person, rather than chain it down and selfishly guard it, you set it free so it can blossom and become the best it can be.

let me share my own experience,my gf of three years we both had a rift last year coz she's a stubborn type bt she's kinda good.So late last year there's a distance barrier btw us and we keep going until she did something i don't find amusing again and i call it quit,at least we didn't talk for like 5-months i just left her and yesterday we started talking again,we might start dating again but have told her we might go off again if she didn't change her ways so i just thought she's for me,you must both make it work..so the adage is true,but not in every situation..

Forget all those sayings.. it doesn't always apply in all situations.

So if you love someone and they are not hurting you, you'll let them go? Nah!

I also wanna believe even when you love someone and they are hurting you or things aren't going smoothly with them in the relationship, you should let them go on that bases, and not because you love them. This situation doesn't really go with the saying.

I also had similar experience with ex. I really loved him but I didn't let him go because I love him. I let go because I couldn't bear the hurt he was causing me. Can't come and let love kill me.
