Human Security is a new way of approaching security at the local, national and global levels which focuses on the security of people rather than the security of states. According to the Human Security approach the best way of ensuring international peace and security is to first ensure the peace and security of people. Within this new approach both violent and non-violent issues are considered security threats. Things like poverty, disease, human rights, economic instability and environmental degradation. Threats to Human Security are present in all parts of our world; whether it is the pollution of industrial America, water scarcity in the villages of Kenya, unemployment and discrimination in the banlieus of Paris, threats to freedom of the press in the Philippines or violence in the streets of Baghdad.

Do you think the focus on Human Security has had on conflicts all over the world, as well as the attempts to create peace in our world?
