It's obvious it wasn't only him that did all these stealing.
What about all other officers involved, the accountants, auditors, cash officers, the pension remitters, the bank officers.
Do we think Maina is the only brain behind this.
I am sure we will have another case of such soon because the ppl aforementioned are d real culprits. Maina was just the presiding authority for their mischievous intentions

Not only the banks helped him, even Jonathan shielded him until he escaped when people were calling for his head.

Have license been withdrawn from all banks in Nigeria which were used for fraud? After successful winding down Diamond bank, they want to close down the only two remaining banks owned by Igbos. He deposited the money in three different banks with fake identities. Out of the three banks, one is still anonymous only UBA and Fidelity bank identity was revealed and their license should be withdrawn. Watch the name of the Judge and see those who are doing everything possible to destroy Igbos economically. I only blame Tony Elumelu of UBA for spending his hard earned money to feed his enemies in the name of TETFUND.

It seems UBA and Fidelity Bank has offended Justice Abang when he stated that the two banks should have arraigned with Rasheed Maina so that their licences will be withdrawn.

The judge should be well knowledgeable that it was Rasheed Maina that approached the Banks to opened those accounts and every lodgement to the account were reported according to the laws regulating financial institutions.

Someone that stole 2billion was given fine of 1 billion and sentenced to 8 years in prison
Then when he comes out in 8 years he will be enjoying the money meant for dead pensioners

This is wickedness, I hope that tumor burst for him body

And why is the judge not sanctioning the 2 banks

As usual soft landing for criminals is a common thing In Nigeria.

My grudge in this judgement is the backdating of his sentence to 2019. It means he has already served 4 prison calender years already. That means by 2023, He will be free as bird. O my country.
these people are very wicked, it's so painful and annoying

I am not surprised that banks were involved. Corruption is endemic in Nigeria. And yes, UBA and Fidelity bank ought to have their operation licences revoked.
Re: How Nigerian Banks Helped Maina To Steal Pensioner's ₦2 Billion by einsteine(m): 10:35am On Nov 09, 2021
Judge Abang go just open mouth wa. Withdraw the licenses indeed. The entire Nigerian banking sector would be ruined when you withdraw the license of UBA. Charge the individual bankers involved not the bank itself. It's human beings who perpetrate fraud not corporations. These are also public companies with pension funds owning a significant percentage of these banks.

Prison calendar is a myth. No way he's rounding up an eight years sentence in 2023

Steal 2 billion naira of pensioners money and get only 8 years?

Sounds like a fair bargain to me. Steal 2 billion and get out in 8 years. Most people would never make 2 billion in 5 lifetimes.

Despite knowing the full implication of Maina's fraud and the pain it caused millions of homes in Nigeria, the Judge only saw it fit to sentence a man who jumped bail twice to only 8 years in prison.

Unbelievable!!

Shocking indeed. After his talks I thought he would give him life imprisonment
