OP, if the S40 is as clean inside as it looks on the outside (judging from these pics), then kindly buy it without a second thought

Most of the people saying NO to the S40 don't know any better, you'll recover your capital a lot faster on the ride, its a reliable workhorse.

Just make sure it's not abused, if car is in Lagos and you don't know what to look out for, contact me, I'll help you with inspection

Budget 800k to 1.5m for a good naija used one, get expert mechanic to help you with inspections before you pay 1 naira to anybody. The Corolla maybe out of reach unless you hit the max budget cap

Hope you are inspecting it with a Honda mechanic? To give you an idea of the repairs to be done. Your price is okay considering repairs

If this is the range of cash you have to buy a car ₦550k - ₦700k, then you stand a better chance with the volvo than any other car mentioned in this thread so far.

Any civic, camry, corolla for that price range is most likely a lemon, and na bolt u wan do, not school runs.

Pls perish the idea of buying any car (that's not a Volvo) with that budget, a word is enough for the wise

It is Nigerian used but the owner said it is just a year used.

Even in your dream don’t buy that hybrid, the seller will say anything to sale his market. The thing with buying a good budget car even toks is that it takes due diligence and time, you need to broaden your search areas even if it means traveling to other not too far states to get a good deal. If you factor all the cost and it’s within reach you can go for it.

Pls stick with normal four plugs engine due to ur location and budget.

You really enjoy the Pros wen it’s bought brand new or has low mileage.
Pros: less pollution, more gas mileage(like a lot more)

Cons: expensive to fix the hybrid system, expensive hybrid battery replacement, hard to find competent technical support..
it’s not just good for your budget
