Chemical Engineering Job Or Filling Station Manager Job by Bankyshinani(m): 5:47am On Nov 15, 2021
I am a graduate of chemical engineering. I have some years experience as a chemical engineer in ethanol refining process and as well the beverage industry. So,I was sacked by the ethanol refinery due to something I know nothing about and I am presently working as a petrol station manager which I worked 2-days on and 2days off shift and earning a salary of 90k. Now ,the ethanol refinery just called me that they still need my service and the work routine is 2days morning,2days night and 2days off... I am to make the decision between now and monday....
That's why I need urgent advice from wiser and more enlightened people on this platform....
Please,I need a fast response because i don't want to make a decision that I will later regret

If you are going back to the ethanol company, u need to have a convo with them as regards how the issue that got u sacked was resolve and if u decide to accept, the pay should be much higher as compensation.

For career prospects, c.development and all that you may like to hear. I will advice you to go back to the ogogoro company.

Who knows maybe you you get H for free at your former place of work.

But on a serious note, career wise if the ogogoro company will put in the right career development that you desire for yourself and the fact that the salary is something to write home about, then you don’t have better choice than to go back to your formers place of work. —this ad will become invalid when they sacked you for no reason for the second time.

But wait fess, what was the salary those drunkard in your former place of work pays you?

If I were you I wouldn't go back to the former company even if the pay was 3 times what I currently earn. How sure are you the previous circumstances won't rear up again and you get sacked the second time? By then you might have nothing to fall back on. And believe me you will work under pressure in this former company as you are not sure what might be in store for you. In fact getting back to a former organisation after one had been sacked doesn't end well most times. Why not focus on your present job and seek ways to earn additional income since it gives you more flexibility of time? Or better still seek new employment in another similar chemical company if experience is ur goal. See higher paycheck is not always the goal. If u earn 50k while being kept on ur toes and another earns 30k working with a more relaxed mind, who do u think will make more financial progress in the long run? A BIRD AT HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH!

It depends sha. What are your career goals right now; money or more experience? Is your former job offering more money and better experience? I would advise against going back to a company that sacked you as the environment might still be toxic just like you left it.

I would advice to stay on your current job and be a consultant to your former ethanol company or part-time staff on your offday at the gas station. But remember that globally countries is campaigning against using fossil fuel now.
