I Lost 100 Pounds! by muffleitjuhi(f): 12:50pm On Nov 17, 2021
This is “weigh” overdue. My weigh in from two weeks ago resulted in the results I have been seeking since April of 2009. I busted through the 100-pound mark lost! I lost 3.2 pounds to fall to 276.6.
This blog will be a post of my success, but I have to be honest. I gained 0.6 pounds last week after a week of less than great workouts and my 10-year college reunion.
Back to the 100 pounds, that is a lot of weight, how did I get to that point? I can tell you what it was—life happened to me without a plan. I wrestled in high school in the 171-pound weight class, I was a horrible wrestler, but I was in the best shape of my life!

[/b]When I went off to college, I didn’t think about my health, it never crossed my mind, I was there for the people (and some time the education). I looked forward to the basketball games, the social events, the parties, and of course the pizza, the Chinese delivery, the post-party trip to Steak N Shake, and the day after a party trip to the local greasy spoon.
I went to college for the people and left with a ton of friends and a whole lot more of me to love! I had six years (including my MBA) of all-you-can eat buffets. I didn’t own a scale. Once I gained the weight, I didn’t feel there was an appropriate place to workout. The union was where all of the tiny beautiful girls worked out and the athlete’s gym was crowded with well…. athletes.
Where does a morbidly obese person belong on a college campus? I was confident in so many ways, but walking into one of the facilities to “workout” was not one of them.
I have since moved on and know that I can workout anywhere. I’m comfortable to run or walk during a race in front of hundreds of people. I have completed two sprint triathlons since I started this journey. I’m willing to ride over 20 miles. I will do pushups in the middle of my kitchen if I have to do that to get a “little” bit of exercise. I even find myself creating dancing or jumping games with my kids to keep myself moving!
My mindset is different. I still struggle with quantity of food versus quality of food. I struggle with looking forward to mealtime as though that is the most exciting thing I’m going to do in a day. I’m still fighting it every day. But, I know that for every streak of healthy choices I can put together I’m adding quantity and quality of life to my future.
Life is about moments that take our breath away, not about food that WILL take our breath away.
I’m happy that I lost 100 pounds. I also know I have more to lose. Thanks for being my cheerleader, my accountability partner, and my friend. I hope to see you at the finish line.
Livin’ the dream!
