can some tell me or point me to a lin that illustrates how websites are able to insert their logo in the address section of a web browser.

Example of this include:

the naira logo appearing before the http://www.nairaland.com

the ebay logo appearing before the http://ebay.co.uk

i blv such a "logo" is called a favicon and you can google for tutorials.

what i'd really love to know is how some organizations send u custom-made emails with their logo/image showing in the body of the message without any image attachments to the mail message. . . . . i've always found it fascinating!

depending on what you use to access your files (as in cPanel), you can set up your emails to be rcvd as "HTML".

Either way, it is something you set up on your server.
