I am definitely going to be insulted and bashed from all angles for this post, but, oh well, let's get on with it.

You've all heard the news of David's Donation to orphanages. In the eyes of men, his action was: super kind, admirable, commendable etc.

Does God view his action that way? The simple and straightforward answer to that question is NO.

Why?

Matthew 6:1-4 Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you

Uh oh sad , I can feel some people's temper rising. Now before you all go rushing to reply me with insults or ask me how much I have given or calling me a poor man or a hater, Give me a minute of your time by thinking deeply about these two questions:

1. Why did Jesus give this instruction in the first place? Why is giving publicly an act to be beware of? Was he just wasting his saliva or was there something he noticed, perhaps an alterior motive in the heart of men that publicly displayed their generosity? Don't forget, people couldn't fool him with their actions, he read people's thoughts and heart easily like a book and that's why some people hated him.

2. Why do some people find it difficult giving or showing acts of kindness/generosity without others knowing about it? Of course, it's their money but from the look of things, very few people have the habit of giving without sounding a "Hey everyone look at me, I just donated millions to people" trumpet. Why?

You see, the more you read the Bible, the more you discover that truly, on this earth, there is nothing new under the sun. Nothing can surprise or amaze you neither can you be fooled.

Honestly, I would have loved to drop two other thought provoking questions for those who have eyes and use them to see but I don't want to bombard people with truth which is usually bitter and hard to swallow.

Have a nice day. smiley
