EPISODE ONE

Chuks shot out of bed with the speed of lightening and ran into the bathroom which doubled as the restroom. The time is 8:30am and today is supposed to be his first day at his new office. 15minutes later he was already rushing out of the house after getting ready.

Chuks is a strikingly handsome first class graduate of electrical and electronics engineering from the University of ibadan. For five years after leaving school he was unable to secure a good job. He survived by doing menial jobs while sending cover letters upon cover letters to several firms. It seems fortune smiled on him when he received a mail from Lincoln incorporation, a shipping company with more than 200 branches all over Nigeria and outside Nigeria. stating that he finally secured the position of the technical head at the Ibadan branch at ringroad. Chuks had stayed up late till about 1:00am celebrating his new job With his friends, hence his waking up so late this morning.

Chuks was already sweating profusely inside the fully Air conditioned safeboda cab he had chartered so as to arrive at work in good time. It seems nature has other plans for chuks, the massive gridlock he met at sango has refused to move for over 20minutes, he adjusted his tie an checked his Rolex wristwatch "fvck sh*t, 9:30am" he cussed loudly and stared at the long stretch of vehicles in front .

On getting to mokola roundabout, another driver veered off it's lane bashing the side mirror of chuks cab in the process. The driver who had no intention of letting such offence off easily ignored chuks impatient sighs and parked his car in a vertical position to prevent any movement in that lane and came down with anger hot enough to melt down Mount Kilimanjaro and charged at the offending driver. Chuks quietly came down, took a bike and went to his destination..

EPISODE TWO




Chuks dashed into the well lit reception hall Of Lincoln incorporation, sweating profusely like a Christmas goat, his pure white shirt badly creased, he looked around and saw a security man with a bored look, he requested to see the managing director.

Chuks knocked on the door and counted 4secs before entering "Goodmorning ma, I am supposed to resuume today as the technical head ma," chuks said to the very light skinned slim and tall pretty young lady sitting behind the mahogany doing God knows what on a MacBook in front of her. "What says your time?" She asked without looking at him, "10:45am ma" he mumbled. "You were supposed to resume when?" She asked again. "8:00am ma" chuks answered shakily. "YOU ARE FIRED, NOW GET OUT!"

EPISODE THREE


"Chuks my man, you have been like this for a week, please move on from this already" Tunji advised. It has been a week since chuks lost the job he had even barely started. He has been depressed and has refused to be consoled neither did he leave his room for a whole week. Tunji managed to drag him off his room today and took him to the popular queens bar in ibadan to take some bottles and forget his sorrows. Tunji is one of chuks friends. An average looking, young but wealthy entrepreneur, selling female wears at dugbe market. Emeka is also a close friend to chuks. Emeka is a very handsome Igbo boy who has slept with almost all the ladies in ibadan. Call him igbo demon of you like. He is into sales of household furnitures.

Emeka chuckled and took a large swig from his bottle of heneiken. "Mumu wetin dey make u laugh? "Tunji chided Emeka. " Na your papa be mumu. Na me say make this zombi go sleep like dead goat, when e know say e suppose resume work that morning?. Abeg allow me enjoy my evening oo, I nor come here come pamper or console Anybody" Emeka mocked while munching his suya noisily. "See as that small Girl asked me to get out, if not for this dead country, I for no dey like this na" chuks narrated painfully. " Calm down bro, another opportunity go come" Tunji pats his back " where you expecting a royal welcome for arriving late to work on Your first day? Guy get out abeg" emeka lashed out. Chuks looked at Emeka, gave a long hiss and stood up. "I can't deal with this, abeg I am out" He walked out.

He had not walked a mile when he saw it. A car carelessly parked on the road, with the headlamps on and the doors wide open. Survival instinct kicked in. He walked carefully to the car and peeped. He saw a lady unconscious and her cloths torn. She must have been beaten, raped and left there to die. He felt for her pulse and found a weak one. He covered her with his cardigan and tried lifting her up. "STOP, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST"

"Chuks! chuks! where's this lazy omo"ibo sef" I heard iya Bola shouting my name this early morning.

But I am in no mood for her troubles this morning. "Chuks I know you are there and you can hear me, please come and give me electricity money. Look at the time and you are still at home when your mates are out there making money" she shouted again.

I am loosing my patience gradually. I don't know why she won't give me peace. I didn't ask her husband to abscond with a more pretty woman leaving her behind to cater for their thirteen children. Well I won't let the devil use her today. Chuks come out here joor! Oloriburuku, jobless Biafran, terrorist, come out." She screamed and banged my door hard.

That's it, I have had enough. I will give this old hag a peace of my mind today. With this I matched with rage akin to a mad bull to my door and yanked it open. I was greeted with her bleached fat face looking like a badly burnt Boli, I cringed in disgust and yelled at her " iya Bola what's your problem? I told you I will pay this money, why are you disturbing my life? Am I the one that stole your husband? Why all these nuisance? She replied angrily with venom "It is your useless mother that is a nuisance! You are a bastard! Better pay this... " "Shut up old hag, dirty woman" I interrupted angrily " if your thing is scratching You, go and meet those your dirty wheelbarrow pushers, I don't do your type! Nonsense." I slammed at her while she looked at me in shock

I smiled victoriously and turned to enter my room and resume my sleep. When I felt someone push me from behind. One moment I am trying to hold myself from falling and the next moment I am tumbling over the wheelbarrow of eggs mama Nkechi kept outside for sale. "Ehweeee brother Chuks don buy market oo, see my eggs" mama Nkechi screamed in horror

EPISODE FIVE


I have been doing a lot of thinking recently. My life is a total mess. No job, No money. I am almost getting fed up of this life I am living. Everyday with different troubles, I don't know who placed a curse on me, it's like I am a trouble magnet.

I sighed and stood up and went to my kitchen, took a spoon from the rack on the wall and carried the left over pot of beans from last night to the room and began eating while slowly ruminating about life, and how unfair it has been to me. I ate what I can actually call my last supper, because it was the last cup of beans and the only fooodstuff I had, I had to prepare yestermight for dinner. Well let me allow tommorow worry about itself while I focus on the driving lessons I am supposed to start today.

Emeka had paid for one month driving lessons for me, with the mind of buying a Nissan micra so that I can shuttle passangers within Ibadan and earn money for myself instead of been idle. After eating, I entered the bathroom to freshen up.
"Goodmorning sir" I greeted the elderly man I saw in the office when I go to the driving institute. He looked like a jolly fellow. He smiled in a welcoming manner and replied "Goodmorning my friend, I am sure you are here for the driving training". " Yes sir" I replied. "Ok we start immediately" he said
He took me to the classroom and asked me to read some letters in a white background. After that he showed me some road signs and explain their meaning to me saying that it's important I understood these signs if I must get a valid driving license. We then stepped out and proceed to field training. The vehicle is a very old green 504 car. The seats were old and torn with foams sticking out in different corners, making it look like a bedbug ridden contraption.

After about twenty minutes of explaining the different parts of the vehicle and their functions, even though I dosed off while he was talking because I was bored. I mean we were supposed to drive and not talk. It was now time to practice, I took over the wheels and waited for his instructions. " Oya move" he said after I had turned on the ignition. I stepped on the accelerator with my right leg and remove my left leg from the clutch. The vehicle moved, I smiled feeling like a pro " oya turn left" he said again. I maneuvered the steering to the left. Wow I am a badass driver, I giggled. "Fast and furious go hear am today". I slammed hard on the accelerator and floored it. The vehicle picked up speed. I switched to gear three and fired down the lonely road. I was so excited that I did not notice that we had gotten to a dead end and I had to slow down and do a U turn

"Chuks slow down, use your brake". He screamed at me. " Brakes ? Stop shouting which brake again?" I replied, fidgeting at the same time. The next thing we heard was GBOSAAAAA! " Gbesere ooo" my instructor screamed in fear. We had hit the gates of a very ruthless naval officer.

EPISODE SIX

I reduced the speed of the treadmill, did a short run and gradually it came to a halt. I stepped down and took a swig of water from my bottle. I then sat down panting and sweating like someone that fell Into a pool of water.

I heard that rich and lonely wives of politicians and businessmen frequent the gym alot, looking for young handsome men to satisfy their lustful cravings while they in turn take care of the sugar boys. Well I am not bad looking at all. A light skinned six footer with broad shoulders, wide chest and rock hard abs. My smiles ofcourse are to die for with snow white dentition and neat full beard. Well I finally registered in a gym. If my brain can not get me money my body should. I was still deep in thoughts when I saw her.

She walked into the gym hall with the grace and confidence of a supermodel. Her hair as long as those of mermaids, her skin as milky and flawless as that of a baby. She wore a pink tank top which revealed her well toned stomach and a tight leggings that accentuated her firm and perfect hourglass shape. She screamed perfection and she reeked of money! Lots of it. She took off her Tom Ford sunshades and took a sip from her bottle while stepping on a treadmill. That's it, I have seen her. I have seen my messiah. I screamed in my head as I made my way to her.

"Hello sunshine" I flashed her my most charming killer smiles " how I can help you?" She asked without looking at me " well I wanted to find out if you are an artist, because you drew my attention so effortlessly. Angel you look so hot honestly, so hot that I am so scared of touching you because I don't want want to get burnt. But Not to worry I am a doctor. So why don't you come with me to my hospital so I can administer an injection that will reduce your temperature?". I followed up smoothly. She laughed and said " wow so smooth. She stopped her treadmill and took her phone and typed briefly on it. I smiled to myself . She is falling already. " Are you a banana peel, because you making me fall hard". I said again. " I am already liking you dear, why don't we step out and go somewhere private?". She said sweetly while blushing so hard. "Anything for you baby, let's go". I said happily.

On getting outside, we made for her car, a maybech 2019 model." Woah she's super rich" I said to myself. "So you are the bloodY civilian that's disturbing my wife kwo?". I heard a deep voice boomed behind me. I turned and saw a tall, dark and handsome man with clean shaved head and sprinkles of white beards on his jaw, clad in white jalamia standing with two
hefty military men. At this point he didn't look so handsome as his eyes were emitting fire. I swallowed and looked at my new catch. She was just laughing at me. At this point I knew I was done for. "Sir sir..." I stuttered. "Shutup you bastard". He bellowed at me. "Sorry sir" I said again. " Sergeants throw this fool into the trunk and take him to the guardroom, serve him Christmas and New year food."

"Omo akpos this gbana make sense o" where una get am na?" I asked as I took a long drag from the wrap of marijuana I held in-between my thumb and index finger. "This one na correct kwale weed o. Na kpoli lord bring am". Akpos replied.

We just finished playing football, which we do every Saturday morning when akpos suggested that we all go to his house to relax and smoke some blunt that kpoli lord brought in this morning. I have never had a good relationship with marijuana. My last two encounters were not pleasurable, but then they don't have to know right?. So I joined them anyway



"See as chuks dey hold gbana like pencil, oboy you be novice?" Kpoli lord mocked me. I ignored him and focused on the weed in my fingers. As I dey now ehn guys, na how to pass my waec dey my mind so" I said with all seriousness. The guys all started laughing at me. " why una dey laugh na? Abeg make una getout sef". I said and stood up. "Where you dey go?" Akpos asked me. "Una nor dey hear the music wey dey play? Na my favorite song o. Bank alert by kanayo cubana". I replied and started dancing to the beautiful song that the weed was playing for me. I displayed my dancing skills for the next twenty minutes. Suddenly I started perceiving a very beautiful aroma of fried rice and salad. I trailed the aroma to the back of akpos' house. Lo and behold I saw a very palatable dish of fried rice and salad with enough meat. My mouth watered. I never knew weed was preparing a table before me in the presence of my friends. Well I fell into the meal and started digging in. " Chuks wetin you dey chop?" Akpos and kpoli lord asked in unison". " Guys come join me o, this fried rice na bomb" I invited them while stuffing mouth full. " Chuks na mama Ebere trash can be that na, Abeg comot for dirty". Akpos begged me. I hissed and continue eating. After eating, I stoodup, stretched, and went to lie down on the soft mattress in the room. Boy I slept like a baby.

Two hours later I woke up. I yawned and stretched my arms. Then I looked around and saw that I was in a puddle, a sticky puddle with piles of rubbish around me! "JESUS CHRIST, WEED DON DISGRACE ME AGAIN" I screamed in tears....
