i dont understand what you mean but if you are talking about operating income, then yes, they make bulk of their money from the aws, amazon retail business isnt that profitable yet, they keep chasing economics of scale to change that, aws should never ever have issues, they should have redundancies that can account for anything thinkable, its the golden goose that feeds that empire.

Yes, they have centralized management of resources but in terms of the consumed services and delivery most are either distributed or decentralized. Mere looking at the AWS service status page shows that most of the services across multiple regions and availability zones are up and running.
