I always try to stay clear of political talk on Nairaland because it easily get ugly. But I would like to remind us that the trouble started when GEJ chose to ignore an agreement on zoning which he was a signatory to. Northerners cried foul, but some people including many here on Nairaland said that the best should be allowed to emerge. And so zoning was killed. Even before that, it is common for many in Nairaland to attack Northerners that they are backwards and occupy positions only because of federal character, still the argument is to allow merit to be uppermost.

So GEJ killed zoning, but somehow Northerners  use that to their advantage. And now somehow again zoning is back and Northerners are at fault. Maybe the North will not occupy the 2,3 and 4 positions if OBJ did not impose David Mark on the senate again. Zoning or no zoning, I don't really care. I am not proud of my people's skills in political scheming, but the fact is that they have been playing this game for hundreds of years before the formation of Nigeria. They may lose out once in a while (e.g zoning the presidency) but they will always try to somehow bounce back.

Think of it, the PDP chairmanship may end up in the North-East again. GEJ is touting Alhaji Bamanga Tukur from Adamawa state for that position. The way out of this would have been to vote the PDP out, but the South West chose not to vote in the presidential elections thereby giving PDP an edge. And those that voted, chose to cast their votes for GEJ thinking they are voting against the North.

I read this thread and simply shake my head in disbelief. Not only is the govt bad, but it appears some of us simply have no sense of logic. No wonder we're in such bad shape. A few points:
1. OPC is a tribal group, such as MEND, Arewa etc. Therefore, Fasheun crying about marginalization is to be expected.
2. The more important point is this - how many Yorubas give/use OPC as a political lever? OPC is relevant to Yorubas only when the tribe is under threat of physical attack, and that might be overstating it. It's not even at the fore-front of any cultural drive.
3. If Yorubas are so concerned about these positions, wouldn't Bankole have been returned to office, thereby giving him a fighting chance at retaining his "exalted" position?
4. In addition, wouldn't Yorubas have voted for OBJ enmasse when he initially showed up again? Afterall, the presidency is the "juiciest" position of all, to coin a sadly, popular word.
5. The N.A members crying about marginalization are, of course, Yoruba PDP members. Is this worthy of explanation to any thinking adult? I guarantee you very few Yorubas give a damn. Test it, ask a few of the "lowliest" Yoruba persons you meet.
6. I CANNOT believe that any sane human being would vote for the PDP again (except, of course, if you're a fellow traveller on the road of thieves). It's like being assaulted once and going back for more, in the hope that the next assault(s) will be kinder and gentler.
7. What does it matter if your tribesman is speaker or whatever? Have these tribal crowns benefitted anyone, even the tribe?
8. In Ndigbo's unrelenting hatred for Yorubas, you simply choose to be dishonest if you disagree that we generally fly straight and don't condone crap from high office holders just because they're Yoruba (see 3 & 4 above). You will note how PDP was kicked out of the West, whereas you people are proud!! to vote them back in - for deputy speaker??!!. It is shameful. This is why they say any people gets the govt they deserve. My fervent prayer is that ACN takes a leaf from Fashola and begins the transformation of the West. Please keep all your super "juicy" positions. I'll settle for functioning govts, thank you very much.

All the Yorubas trying to distance themselves from this are just trying to be naive. The people talking where are they from and what do they represent?Even if they are Yoruba PDP members or militant faction, you can't deny the fact that they are yorubas and represent the intrest of some people.
The PDP is a party ,which has the intrest of peoples.Including Yorubas!stop pretending about there importance and relevance.Since they were still able to pull some votes regardless of ACN victory. It just goes to tell you alot more Yorubas support ACN ,but a fair number still support PDP.If am wrong the ACN should get 100/100.
Common sense is that some people want it and others pretend they don't want it.Don't forget this same people fought for Yoruba presidency,as given to OBJ. shocked
The truth is simple the Igbos are really putting there house in order.

Is fasheun a member of PDP? if he's not then he should keep shut. it's a PDP family affair. Why is he complaining now that SW has lost out? He didn't complain when the NW,NE lost out in the presidency. What goes around comes around.

This guys should go and sit down please.

Did he know the NE are screaming they are being marginalizes cos they dont have any representation, so all we want is guys that can work and move the youths forward. If Uncle GEJ will make this country better and we will prosper then may God make remain there till someone better comes and same goes for Aunty Remi Tinubu, Tambuwal and Rochas and all the politicians. If they will just come together and loot may thunder drop on them and may better people come. So OPC, CPC or whatever you call yourself you are not reping SW just focus on getting peoples lives better and us having good governance please.
