Oyo deserves whatever PDP offers Southwest –Raimi

Following the loss of the position of Speakership of the House of Representatives by Mulikat Adeola-Akande last Monday to Aminu Tanbuwal, a chietain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Dejo Raimi, has said[b] that whatever position the party zones to the Southwest geo-political zone must come to Oyo State.

Adeola-Akande, a member of the House of Representatives from Ogbomoso zone of Oyo State lost the bid to lead the lower chamber of the National Assembly to Tambuwal on Monday after the inauguration of the seventh Assembly in Abuja.

The development had disrupted the zoning arrangement of PDP, which had zoned the position to the Southwest and created problem within the party on which position to give to the zone.

Raimi, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in an interview with **Daily Independent** at the weekend maintained that if Oyo State had behaved the way other states in the zone behaved during the last general election, there would not have been anything for the zone to bargain now.

He said Oyo State should be praised for giving the entire zone a voice and name in the National Assembly, saying, ‘’it is because Oyo State has representatives in both chambers of the lawmaking chambers that the entire zone can lay claim to anything.
