By now, there would been a massive investment in the sector thereby leading to competitive prices, Nigerians would have adjusted , the money realized would have been channeled to other areas and maybe we wouldn't have been borrowing like we are now but no!! cry

Out of short-sightedness and selfishness, Nigerians protested and Jonathan being a man with a listening ear and a soft heart backtracked , now look at where we are now undecided

Funny enough, those selfish idiots that shut down the whole nation back then because of subsidy removal are now in government and guess what they are also planning on removing it grin grin cheesy

Reminds me of a saying, 'if fowl like make him run from Lagos to Kano, him go still end for inside pot'

Now the question is what changed between then they protested against it (and oh please spare me that corruption bullshit cause there is still massive corruption going on now) and now that they are in government and they want to remove it

Not that I am against subsidy removal because it is for Nigeria' s good but it supposed to have been done a long time ago but they decided to play politics with it to Nigeria's detriment, y'all will learn las las

They would have looted the money! Our problem transcends subsidy....check Patience Jonathan's account, and you'll testify that our problem is a culture of wickedness.

@op,channel to which area? The simple truth is, had the Jonathan administration succeeded in removing it, they would have looted it.
The ones removing it now are not doing so because they have a grand plan of using the funds to better the lives of ordinary Nigerians, it is to have more funds to loot.

I am gladly that you agree that it will still be looted even now that they are planning to remove it but removing it earlier would have been alot better for so many reasons

Unfortunately this is the mindset of majority of Nigerians

Are Nigerians more stubborn than Americans That have more gun by far than US army and police combined ?

Are Nigerians more stubborn than french people that protest at the slightest thing ?

Removing subsidy then would have open the market up for competition corruption or no corruption ...there would have been incentive for companies to build rifinaries here ... saving dollars there by stabilizing the naira and creating massive employment plus over $5 billion added to GDP per year that's over $750 million added in revenue from tax
Instead of analyzing situation economically u are here shouting corruption ... corruption on top less than $1.2 billion shares every month by state ,local government and FG ?
Same way they are telling you restructure your type is asking is it not same leaders that would rule ...no economic and social analysis

With people like u in majority n people like me in minority there is no hope for nigeria

Goodnight

If the subsidy had gone under GEJ by now things would have been betterin terms of functional refineries, and domestic production of refined fuel

The problem is Nigerians see subsidy removal in terms of cost of food, not in terms of long term benefits.

Buhari used the anger of Nigerians against subsidy removal in 2012 to ride into power..now he has seen why it had to go.

Either way, GEJ could have removed subsidy , and Nigerians would have then voted for Buhari 90% to 10% for GEJ in 2015, and Buhari would have restroed subsidy , only for us by now to be back to the same issue

If subsidy was running for election, Nigerians will vote for itabove Buhari, GEJ, Obasanjo and company. The hold subsidy has on us is too too much

The only thing Nigerians directly benefit from the government is fuel subsidy. I have supported subsidy removal right from the Military era, but benefits of the removal won't trickle down to the masses if we don't know our actual daily consumption, population etc

This is the point that I am driving at, shouting corruption and ignoring the long term benifit as if worse form of corruption is not currently going on under burahi's administration..

Sometimes I feel Nigerians deserve the leaders they get

The function of citizens in a democracy is to hold their leaders to account.

So go and do that. Removing subsidy is not meant to end corruption. It is meant to help us get domestic refining back on line, more jobs, more investment and save more money and hopefully keep our naira value high

What your goverment does with the extra cash is up to you and me and everyone else in this country

Democracy is hard work. And it is hard work. And did I mention it is hard work.

Is patience a poor woman?
So the account of the wife of a whole president must be lean!!!!
You all become loud when it's a so called minority person just like you are doing to Alison maduaeke.

But none of you is concerned about former petroleum minister Rilwanu Lukeman who owns an oil well.

If Diezani owns an oil well,Ahhhhh the headline news will be everywhere!!! Till God disgraced you all by taking okonjo iweala to greater heights, you all were calling her all sort of names. The current Hausa woman finance minister has been accused a lot of times of misappropriation and mismanagement but nobody's is concerned. Amaechi exposed that thief Hausa woman at NPA that hot her sacked, she's gone now and free but everybody is mute. Nobody's calling for her prosecution! Kemi Adeosun impersonated a female youth corper and was quietly told to resign which she did but alas, nobody said or did anything. Had it been a person from the east or SS,ahhhh, wahala!!!!
Stella Oduah bought bullet proof cars as minister of aviation and the whole world started boiling till Jonathan had to remove her!!!!
Turai yar Adua hid her late husband in Saudi and held on to Aso rock and did what she liked but nobody got any problems with that.... God will so judge you all.

I know things maybe quite hard for you that you may not really have the patience to read through and digest what I wrote there.
Where did I refer to apc as saint?
The fact that the present government has nothing good to offer does not in anyway proof that the last before it was anyway better.
Before you have a short memory span does not mean we all do.
That the buhari regime turns out to be downright wicked does not absolve the Jonathan administration of their shortcomings. An administration that was as clueless as it was corrupt.
FYI I have never voted in any election in this nation and it's certainly not because of age restriction.

I am not absolving PDP of how they managed the country poorly since 1999. Nor am I saying they are saint..But life was not as bad as it is now..at least it was bearable...Yes,Jonathan was weak to tackle corruption but he was not as clueless and wicked Like this monsters you all celebrated and voted for.
You said if the subsidy had been allowed to happen back then, pdp would have eaten the money...So what makes you think APC will not do the same? All the things APC accused PDP about ,they ended up doing worse beyond our imagination. Sey you guys were saying subsidy is fraud ? what is APC doing now? is it not the same subsidy they accused the Jonathan administration of, that they ended up with? they even did worse..what was the price of PMS and what is the price now?We are even hearing that the price it will double soon. Harsh time really await poor Nigerians in 2022.
I don't like PDP nor APC- They are the same people that decamped from both houses. So oga whatever accusation you have toward PDP, just know that you are referring the people presently in APC, aside from few people that came from other parties to make up APC.
