Quest7777:
I came across a news report of a taxi driver returning ₦12M forgotten in his cab.
Many hailed him for being honest but I felt that was not a true test of honesty because he had some motivation/incentive to return the money. For one, his conscience may be bothering him knowing the owner would be passing through some stress. Again he may be expecting some form of reward.

About 3 months ago, I was trekking back home along a lonely bush part, when my eye caught a reflection inside the bush.
I went to explore & found a partially buried old treasure box. After a minute hesitation I went over, dug up the box & carried it home.
I opened the box & found over ₦20M cash & an old newspaper. From the date on the newspaper, it was obvious the box had been buried for over 10years.
There was nothing else to identify the owner of the box.
I made efforts to trace the owner including anonymously reporting to the local radio & TV stations to announce if anyone lost a box. It's 3 months now & no information yet on the owner. I'm is a dilemma over what to do.
What would you do?

LIKE=I will use the money for myself.
SHARE=The money is not mine, so I will never use it. I'll rather return it back to the Bush or Police or Govt or donate it to Church or charity or...

If the box and cash had been buried for over 10 years, surely the currency is no longer in circulation

Ten years is a long time, maybe the owner is dead or something

Intensify the announcement as you can still find the owner!

Naija and nonsense

Return the money to the police. Honesty pays even if you are not rewarded.

If there is no form of identification you have no business returning it. Any one can lay claim on such money. Assuming there is a form of ID, it would have made things easy. And radio couldn't help you out. I know your conscience is active that's why you want to do that. It's normal , I would do the same but on this this situation, You can't identify the owner. Reporting it to police will be the worse decision of your life. Those guys are criminals and would only share it amongst themselves. DPO go chop tire grin and he will pray for more customers.
