This is pure joke. 150k to 250k for a team lead back end developer to design Nairaland kind of site? Lol

Thats the amount Nigerian start ups pay junior devs not to talk of a team lead. I see the project crashing already with that budget for the kind of programmers you'd employ..
Are you reading well at all? didnt you see mid-level devs?

Most team lead be a senior dev?

Baba leave that dream land and come to reality....no Nigerian startup will pay 10m naira as salary to junior/mid level devs...

The 100k usd starting salary for entry level devs we keep seeing are paid by silicon valley companies, aside that most US company pay around 70k-80k USD and that's US(you'll hardly get a job there living in Nigeria) Indian/Nigerian companies pay way less

I'm not equating to USD but Naira. A 150k dev in Nigeria would surely not give the quality requirement for a site as traffic centric as Nairaland is.

300k would have been fair enough. But I'm pretty sure a dev that would get that done won't take anything Below 400k monthly when remote jobs have given experienced engineers options this days.

mid dev for a 150k? Well, skill level and growth mindset matters. But 150k is not a mid dev salary of a developer that has his craft on his watch.

But no surprise here in Nigeria.

You'll need:
1)web designer -- designing the UI and collaborating with frontend and backend for the UI,...
2) frontend developer -- uses template engine for rendering comments, user and admin infos, JavaScript for UI interactivity and fetch request for updating and submitting new content to the server(new post, new comment, pushing popular pages to frontpage, ads),...
3) backend -- uses algorithm for updating database, integration with 3rd party api
,...
4)devops: for scaling and monitoring the website
Honourable mentions: data analyst, project manager, cyber security...

Creating a forum like NL isn't really tough or costly, you just need a team with excellent collaboration skills. With a team of 5, you can really achieve alot within 2 months.

the main problem is maintainance and updating, and scaling cost.

Now back to the question, the total costs depends on the 2 factors: employees rate(geography, skills and experience level), infrastructure cost and operating cost(hosting, aws, computer, electricity,...)...just google it or quora it or stackoverflow it.

The site looks ugly lame on the outside, but inside its top notch inside.

Even 3 devs cant build NL in 3 months.

Just check the size of the file.

The 250k per month mid-level devs cant handle a job like this effectively. It will flop.

I know how long it takes to code even the smallest of things effectively.

Devs build and test at the same time and it takes so much time.
Like someone has mentioned, nairaland is more of content driven and popularity .

When it comes to backend logic, there is really not much top notch.

Even 1 senior dev can get nairaland done in 3 months on steady work.

Haven't you seen lots of nairaland clone script out there. A little tweaking, you can add more of nairaland logic to it.

Anyway, I am still learning.

It will take a senior developer less than a month. A senior developer will first mirror the site and start working on the logic for the back-end.

mid dev does not have to be a person with higher skill. for the fact you choose to mention 150k and left out 150k - 250k. it shows you're being mischievous

I'm not surprised by your reply though. A typical Nigerian on display.

OK.

Bu dont compare a forum site with a fin tech app.

Compare Forum to a Core banking solution? Are you saying a Forum is superior to a Core banking solution (because that is what a Fintech app is)

For Nigerian employers, and even the battered employees; ₦150k would be probably starting salary for a mid dev. Shameful but true

No senoir dev will code some thing like NL engine in one month.

People are forgetting programming is not just about writing codes.
