Yes I’m going to give the guy. Just post it here so that people can learn lessons. I had totally moved on and forget about the phone
Has it occurred to you that the person chatting with you is probably the phone thief?
If indeed he bought it, he'd have returned it to the seller.
He's only making up this story to attract pity from you.

Or rather, send him your account details. Charge him before supplying him the code.
We no dey carry last.

Look how relaxed the guy is when he heard the phone was stolen, seems he is familiar with stolen phone stuff. don't be surprised he might be the one in charge of marketing stolen phones. It might be a cartel where they steal phones from Nigeria and ship them to Niger.

Wish the guy was in Nigeria you for just set am up... My friend once bought a stolen phone, Black berry. The owner cahtyed him up on BBM barely four days later, he was the first person to suggest he meet with the owner and return the stolen phone that he hates things that are dirty...

This guy is not been Frank with you OP

Ola17:

Don’t think you are being a ‘good guy’ by giving him the unlock code, you will be encouraging robbery. It is either he sends the phone to you or return it to where he bought it. People steal phones because there’s an easy market for them and we must do all we can to discourage such.

A lot of people have lost their lives because robbers wanted their phones. Doesn’t matter if you’ve moved on or not; please don’t give out that code!

It's not marketing strategy. If u have an issue against MI phones voice it out, rather than this attempt to waterdown the guy's story. The account was bypassed b4 it was sold but according to the chat the buyer reset the phone which if u are actually tech savvy, you will know that the phone will revert back to the MI account. He proably doesn't want to pay another fee for bypassing that account again, the reason for reaching out to the op. U claiming to know how to remove the account permanently is a different case entirely.
Bro forget tech wavy...this is what I do for a living....its my work....tell him to reach out to me...I swear it will never revert to the old account

Nigerians don't leverage on tech. If you steal my Samsung, you will never be able to use it.

Don't give him any code but report the guy to the police . he maybe a boko haram member or someone into stealing or mischievous deals. Let him not put you into trouble, just report the case first

This morning I received from Niger “ hi you lost your phone redmi note 7 and i found it i'm in niger “. I was surprised when I saw the message. Though I couldn’t remember the precise date they stole this Redmi Xiaomi in my room at night, when I woke up I couldn’t find my phone again, I try to call it but it was switched off. Then I realized my phone has been stolen.

I went to Ikorodu police station to report the case, the outrageous amount they charged, made me decision to leave the phone. Instead of paying 40k to track the phone which I have no grantee of getting back.

I went back home very sad. As I was thinking about the stolen phone, my friend came to check me, then I collected his phone and log in to my mi account. I locked everything lockable from the mi account.

Since the year 2020 I didn’t hear anything until this morning, apparently I have even forget the phone cus I got a big phone after waiting 5 months. I was so surprised when the guy chat me and also send me the phone picture. The reason why I post this is that if you’re using Redmi xiaomi phone always make sure you activate the mi account. D thing secured die, they flashed it and the phone is still locked.

Now the Niger guy is begging me to give him the code? Should I give him or tell him to return to the seller?
Hello, pls I'm using redmi note 8. How can I activate the mi account? Kindly help a brother.

If the phone is 60000 for example let him pay 35000,he doesn't have any option he will pay.Even after paying tell him to pay 5000 again then after paying give him the code.

Moral lesson : Be smart with your phone, when they stole it, it will not be useful for them. Imagine a phone stolen at Ikorodu in 2020 and was now found in Niger republic because no one could used or buy it around

I dey tell you.

My next phone MUST be a Xiomi product.

That's the lesson I got from this thread.

Thanks OP for sharing this wonderful piece of information

The reason the guy contact u is because he doesn't want to spend money to unlock it or lemme just say there aren't competent phone engineer over there... In Nigeria, them go remove the mi account and the destiny of the previous user join if it has been linked to it(just joking) ... Theres no phone that can't b unlocked... Eyinbo wey do pencil nahim also do cleaner

Re: My Stolen Phone Of 2 Years Was Found In Niger Republic by Nobody: 4:51pm On Jan 12, 2022
Never you release the code,Na person steal d phone dey follow you chat so. Never you give that code especially for security concerns.... It's better the phone remain useless to the person so next time he will be more careful when buying a second hand phone and in so doing discourage phone theft.
