Nigerian filmmaker, Editi Effiong, has opened up a conversation about religion on Twitter after revealing he lost his faith in God in 2020.

According to him, he survived 2021 without God and will probably never go back to religion again. He however said that he strongly believes that God exists.

He tweeted,

“I lost my faith in 2020. Went through 2021 without God. I’m probably never going back to religion, but I could never shake the feeling that God is there. We are not cool, but I’m willing to try.”

Other social media users have also shared their personal stories of when they lost faith in religion.

A Twitter user, identified simply as Tosan, wrote,
I lost my faith when I was 12 years old. it’s been more than 11 years now and I still haven’t gone back or even thought about any deity. I really like Jesus tho, his story inspires me and I love everything he stood for, It’s his father I don’t like.”

Another user @mykael_yuddy wrote,

“From 2012 to 2015,I was a pastor. My enquiry got me in trouble with the church leadership. In 2015, I resigned & left church. I was agnostic till 2017. Seeing that I just couldn’t continue giving excuses for the inconsistencies & contradictions in the Bible, I gave it all up.”

It’s been 4yrs I entered church, I see this religion dividing us more than uniting these days.

Well, he may have had a ton of reasons to go on with that decision, which, hypothetically, he might have taken having aligned to popular far-left ideologies about religion. These ideologies may have seemed more sumptuous and simply too good to be overlooked, that pretending to press on in religion would suck out every possibility of reaping the benefits.

"It's [H]is [F]ather I don't like".

His Father was not even meant to be liked, but loved. But how can we possibly love Him? We only know of him through the brainy depictions and propagandas of people who read your holy text more than you, albeit not in a bid to learn of Him, but to handpick the most "touching" and "gory" things He did so you can join them in their community, and in return make them feel more secure with their stance.

If only He could reduce His standard for us.

How do you lose what you never had and why would you want to have again what you never lost.

It means that they now see and appreciate that God does not want them and would never have them, so they are simply going away as the Rejected things they are.
